Jaguar XJ220 vs Jaguar XKR-S on the Nürburgring – Video

Two 542 HP Jaguars tackle the Nürburgring.

It has been quite some time, 19 years to be exact, since John Nielsen set the longstanding production car lap record for the Nürburgring in a Jaguar XJ220. The record 7:47:37 lap time was held by Nielsen until 2000, when it was finally broken.

evo Magazine, the British automotive publication, brought Nielsen back to the ‘Ring with an XJ220 to see if the new Jaguar XKR-S could keep up with the super car. Both cars are equipped with 542 bhp engines and can reach 186 mph. But, the Jaguar XKR-S doesn’t have the same low weight or handling characteristics as the XJ220, and the supercar easily pulls away while spitting flames from its dual exhaust pipes.
