Brabus takes on the Family Hauler with the new B-Class W245 Tuning Program

The Brabus people carrier.

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class was designed to be more of a small family car and compact MPV, not a sporty, German hatch. Currently, there is no AMG model, nor are there plans to make one. The closest that the B-Class has ever been to a performance vehicle is when Mercedes-Benz engineers stuffed a V-8 into one, and nicknamed it the B55 AMG, until now.

Brabus, the German Mercedes-Benz specialists, have introduced a new B-Class tuning program for the new W245 generation models. The program is designed for 2012 MY and later B-Class models, and gives the family hauler a sportier look and feel.

The new Brabus B-Class W245 tuning program includes a full aerodynamic kit made from OEM quality PU-RIM plastics that gives the car a more aggressive look and better high-speed stability. The front features a new spoiler that can be fitted to the production bumper and increases downforce. At the rear sits a new apron insert that can accommodate the upgraded Brabus quad sport exhaust.

In terms of performance, the Brabus B-Class tuning program includes new exhaust and engine upgrades. The entire range of engines can be fitted with a stainless steel muffler with quad tailpipes for a deeper, meaner sound. The W245 tuning program also utilizes the Brabus ECO PowerXtra upgrade module for both 1.6-liter gasoline and 1.8-liter diesel engines.

Brabus offers five different wheel styles for the B-Class tuning program with diameters ranging from 17 to 19 inches. Monoblock E, F, Q, and S wheels are available in a 8.5 x 19 size with 225/35 R19 front and 255/30 R19 rear Continental, Pirelli, or Yokohama tires. On the driver’s side of the featured car are Brabus Monoblock Q wheels with a five double-spoke design, while the passenger side sports Monoblock F wheels with a Liquid Titanium finish. As an option in the W245 tuning program, the entire car can be lowered by 30 mm thanks to new sport springs that are designed for use with the factory dampers.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz Brabus B-Class W245 can be custom tailored to individual specification by Brabus. The German company offers a range of accessories such as stainless-steel scuff plates with Brabus logos, aluminum pedal pads, and aluminum door lock pins. For entertainment, the B-Class can be fitted with new multimedia accessories including an Apple iPad. Additionally, the Brabus upholstery department can install unique leather and trim sets to create a customized interior.

The Brabus B-Class tuning program is currently available for all W245 (MY 2012 and later) models. The upgrades can be purchased individually or as an entire package for all engines. The upgrade program also comes standard with a three-year, 100,000 km/ 62,000 mile warranty.
