Shot out of a Cannon – The Brabus Bullit Coupe 800 Exposed

High-velocity asphalt piercing ammunition.

Brabus has a history with V-12 powered Mercedes models that will squash you into your seat at the push of the throttle. The new Brabus Bullit coupe 800 is no different and takes the tuner’s formula for success to a new level of mind-boggling performance.

For the performance seekers, Mercedes-Benz has the C63 AMG. If that’s not enough, there’s the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. But what’s the end of the performance line for Mercedes-Benz customers is where Brabus picks up with the new Bullit Coupe 800.

The new Brabus Bullit Coupe 800 is the latest in a line of Bullit models based on the C-Class, each of which boasted 730 horsepower. The new model, based on the C63 AMG or C63 AMG Black Series, has been stuffed with extra gunpowder to make it one hell of a high-velocity projectile.

The standard 6.2-liter V-8 in the AMG Coupe was replaced with the Brabus 800 V12 Biturbo engine based on that used in the EV12 One of Ten model. The engine starts out as a 5.5-liter biturbo V-12 from the S-Class and is transformed into a 6.3-liter monster with the help of forged components, bored cylinders, new camshafts and more. The entire intake and exhaust system was redesigned with a new carbon fiber intake system, performance turbochargers, special exhaust manifolds, four water-to-air intercoolers, and a stainless steel exhaust system with butterfly valves and free flowing catalytic converters. Engineers also tuned the Bullit Coupe 800 using new mapping and diagnostics to achieve a high output and still meet Euro V emissions standards.

All of that power is sent through a seven-speed automatic transmission that has been heavily reinforced. Gears can be changed automatically or manually though the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. To achieve better grip, the rear axle utilizes a Brabus differential with a 40 percent locking rate.

The result of the mad scientist conversion is an astonishing 800 horsepower (788 bhp) at 5,500 RPM and an asphalt shredding 1,047 lb-ft. of torque. Due to stresses on the drivetrain, Brabus engineers had to limit the Bullit Coupe 800 to 811 lb-ft. from 2,100 RPM. Even with the torque being restrained, performance is impressive. The sprint to 62 mph takes a mere 3.7 seconds, 124 mph is reached in 9.8 ticks of the clock, and 186 mph comes in only 23.8 seconds. Top speed is set all the way past 230 mph.

But that’s just the beginning. The Brabus Bullit features an upgraded chassis that can handle all of the 800 horsepower being sent to the rear wheels. The suspension was upgraded with a height-adjustable setup developed in partnership with Bilstein. The system uses gas-pressured shocks and can be adjusted in ten different ways. A set of front and rear sway bars reduces any kind of body roll. A new Brabus high-performance braking system was also installed on the Brabus Bullit Coupe 800. The front setup utilizes 12-piston calipers and 380 mm vented and grooved steel discs, while the rear is made up of 6-piston calipers and 360 mm discs.

Finishing off the chassis upgrades are new Brabus Monoblock R wheels. The wheels feature a unique double five spoke design with five spokes on the outer rim, and five spokes closer to the center of the wheel, creating a multi-dimensional look. The outer spokes were finished in titanium paint, while the interior spokes were polished and given a smoke-coat lacquer. To achieve greater grip, Brabus has installed the wheels in a 8.5J x 20 front and 9.5J x 20 rear fitment with 235/30 ZR20 and 275/25 ZR20 performance tires from Pirelli, Continental, or Yokohama.

The entire body of the Brabus Bullit 800 Coupe also required a significant revision due to the high speeds that the super car is capable of achieving. Up front, Brabus installed a new carbon fiber spoiler, new air inlets and routers to feed the engine with cool air, and new grille with Brabus logo. The high performance brake system is aided by new cooling vents along each side. New side skirts help to slice through air, while the rear generates a tremendous amount of downforce with the carbon fiber diffuser and rear spoiler. The entire Bullit Coupe 800 is dressed in sinister matte black to complement the roaring V-12 that lurks under the hood.

The interior was designed for performance and comfort. The seats have been trimmed in black leather and alcantara with contrasting red stitching by Brabus upholstery experts. The entire trim was also replaced with sporty carbon fiber components. The driver is treated to an ergonomically designed sports steering wheel, new gauges, aluminum foot pedals and supple quilted floor mats.

The new Brabus Bullit 800 Coupe will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The entire conversion will start at 378,000 Euros (+/- 500,000 USD).
