Lamborghini Reventón Roadster Exposed

For those looking to buy a Stealth Fighter jet, start writing your checks now. Lamborghini will be creating a limited run of the most extreme roadster in the automaker’s history, the Reventón Roadster. For a price of 1.1 million Euro (without taxes) Lamborghini will build less than 20 roadster variants of the Reventón.

Inspired by aviation, the Reventón was designed to resemble a fighter jet. Sharp edges and an arrow shaped front bumper create a striking and aggressive appearance, and features the signature scissor doors. A large rear spoiler provides downforce at high speeds, deploying at 80 mph, and increases it’s angle at 130 mph. The Reventón Roadster features a rear diffuser and smooth underbody, which provides a stable ride at high speeds along with the aerodynamic bodyshell and rear spoiler. The Reventón Roadster receives an exclusive shade of matte grey called Reventón Grey, slightly different in color than the coupé variation. Special metal particles in the paint create a perception of depth in sunlight.

The Lamborghini Reventón Roadster features an arsenal of twelve weapons waiting to be fired with the touch of the gas pedal. A 6.5-liter V-12 with an explosive 661 hp at 8,000 rpm and 487 lb-ft. of torque allow the Reventón to achieve a 0-62 mph take off of only 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph. The use of variable valve timing and the three-phase adjustable intake manifold allow for peak torque at 6,000 rpm, developing a wide powerband. Unlike a fighter jet the Reventón Roadster will not provide a sonic boom exhaust note, but instead Lamborghini claims will have “deep booming bass, the powerful mid-range and the exultant horn section play music that, once heard, can never be forgotten”.

Behind the wheel of the Reventón Roadster, is greeted to an aircraft-like display of two transreflective and one transmissive LCD displays. Two modes are available and display digital round dials, or illuminated bars. Under acceleration, braking, and cornering, a G-force meter displays forces to the driver using the same format in Formula 1 racing. Alcantara, leather, aluminum, and carbon fiber are used throughout the cockpit and highlight craftsmanship.

Viscous Traction permanent all-wheel drive sends most of the power to the rear wheels until wheel spin is detected, resulting in up to 35 percent of power being sent to the front wheels. An automated e. gear six-speed sequential manual transmission is controlled via steering wheel mounted paddles. “Corsa” and “low adherence” modes allow the driver to operate the Reventón Roadster as with an automatic transmission. A weight distribution of 42:58 is achieved with the gearbox positioned in front of the mid-mounted V-12.

Carbon-fiber ceramic disc brakes measuring 15 inches in diameter use six piston calipers and are cooled by air channels incorporated into the bodywork. Measuring 245/35 in the front and 335/30 rear tires are mounted on 18 inch, five spoke wheels. Each spoke employs a matte carbon, crescent shaped wing that cools the brakes while in the car is in motion.

The Reventón Roadster will be sold for 1.1 million Euro and begin delivery in October of 2009. Lamborghini will produce the Roadster at the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.
