More horsepower, please!
The new F10 BMW M5 is one car that everyone cannot wait to get their hands on and tune. The 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 packs potential and the chassis is dialed in for performance right from the factory. Since it is so new, most tuning companies, including Manhart Racing, have only had time to unveil “initial” tuning programs. The new MH5 S-Biturbo is just the starting point for the German tuner for the new M5.
The MH5 S-Biturbo “initial” upgrade program pushes the twin-turbocharged V-8 past the 600 horsepower threshold with a few modifications. The first available upgrade will be a flap-controlled stainless-steel sports exhaust system with downpipes, 200-cell catalytic converters, and four 90 mm tailpipes to give the sports sedan a mean growl in the upper RPM range. This, along with an ECU tune effectively raises output to 633 horsepower and 575 lb-ft. of torque. Manhart Racing is currently developing turbochargers, exhaust systems, and more for the MH5 S-Biturbo with goals of creating 670- and 735 horsepower outputs.
Up next was the chassis of the MH5 S-Biturbo. Manhart Racing installed a new MHR Clubsport coilover package with adjustable traction and compression to give drivers the ability to tune their car for a given track. The suspension also lowered the BMW M5 by 35- and 30 mm for a better center of gravity. A new set of Manhart Racing Classical Wheels were also fitted in a 9 x 21 front and 10.5 x 21 rear setup with 255/30 R21 and 295/25 R21 tires for greater amounts of grip.
Manhart Racing currently offers the exhaust, suspension, and wheel package on the MH5 S-Biturbo for the F10 BMW M5. The first stage performance upgrade will be available towards the end of April, 2012. Pricing has not been released.
