Even though some believe that the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe is the reincarnation of the E30 M3, there is still a few that believes that there’s some untapped potential holding it back. With the new Alpha-N 1M RS, there’s no question that the car has been pushed to its limits for street use, and the result is pure driving enjoyment.
The new Alpha-N 1M RS features a tuned version of the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that produces over 400 ponies. This was achieved by retuning the ECU, installing a new air intake system that allows the engine to suck in a greater amount of air, and a specially developed exhaust system to reduce backpressure. These upgrades increased output by 70 horsepower all the way up to 410 horsepower.
Due to the increase in power, many other aspects of the chassis had to be upgraded on the Alpha-N 1M RS. The entire front brake setup was replaced with an MAC high performance system featuring 380 mm discs and six-piston calipers with sport brake pads and stainless steel flex lines to ensure reliable stopping power. Hiding the upgraded brakes is a set of new OZ Superforgiata wheels in a staggered 8.5 x 19 and 10.0 x 19 front and rear setup. The ten-spoke black-finished wheels wear grippy Michelin Cup tires in 245 and 265 sizes to help improve handling and stopping power.
One aspect that Alpha-N wanted to focus on with the BMW 1 Series M Coupe was its weight. To reduce weight even further, the Alpha-N was fitted with a new carbon fiber roof and a carbon fiber hood with air vents to cool the engine. In terms of improving aerodynamics, the tuning company installed a pair of carbon fiber spoiler corners up front, a carbon fiber rear flap with integrated spoiler, and a carbon fiber diffuser.
The new Alpha-N 1M RS is currently available as a complete package or individual accessories for those looking to get even more out of the small BMW M model. Pricing for the upgrades have not been released.
