The Lightweight and Loud Capristo Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

Saving weight and popping eardrums.

Many automakers are shifting their focus towards weight saving technology today, while aftermarket tuning companies are slowly beginning to start investing in lightweight tech. But Capristo sees themselves as being ahead of the curve, and their latest Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is an example of their advancements.

The new Aventador was first unveiled back in 2011, and a model was quickly taken to Capristo so that new lightweight parts could be developed and designed. The Aventador was already lighter than the Murcielago that it replaced, but engineers at Capristo found that there were a number of areas that could be upgraded to reduce weight even further. The team stripped down the entire super car and set out to design new lightweight carbon fiber pieces without affecting the look, reliability, or design of the Aventador.

Numerous paneling and attachment parts, air intakes, and vents were optimized with bare carbon fiber in the same shape but different color. The exterior side mirror casings, intakes on the front fascia and sides, and rear vents were all replaced with carbon fiber. Even the rear diffuser, front lip, and grille were given the carbon treatment. But Capristo didn’t stop there on the Aventador LP700-4. They replaced the trunk liner paneling with carbon fiber without changing the actual fabric liner, and also replaced the engine compartment panels to reduce weight in virtually every nook and cranny in the super car.

Even the exhaust system itself was optimized for weight. The stock system was replaced with a new 1.4828 stainless steel system with a shiny, mirror-like finish and includes new exhaust flaps for variable sound levels. The exhaust system helps to improve the backpressure of the exhaust gasses for the 6.5-liter V-12 engine and also reduces weight further.

After all of the carbon fiber and exhaust upgrades and modifications, the Capristo Aventador LP700-4 weighs in at 88 lbs. (40 kg) less than the stock model. This helps to improve fuel economy, reduce emissions, and most importantly, increase overall performance. The additions allow the Aventador LP700-4 to reach 62 mph one-tenth of a second faster at just 2.8 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 220 mph.

The new Capristo Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is just the beginning for the aftermarket company. Engineers are working on developing new carbon fiber upgrades for the underbody, wheel wells, and more to reduce weight even more. All of the products including the exhaust system are currently available for the new Aventador LP700-4.
