Factory Racing Fun.

Late last week we featured a video by Drive where Chris Harris drove the Porsche 962 race car. Now we’re going to focus on another extremely successful Porsche race car from the late 1970s to mid-80s – the Porsche 935.

The motorsport version of the 911 Turbo (930), the Porsche 935 was a factory racing monster that featured big aerodynamic alterations and a massive power output. The race car was introduced in 1976 and was able to achieve great success, winning outright at Le Mans in 1979 and spawning variants such as the iconic “Moby Dick.” By 1984, the 935 had achieved 150 outright wins worldwide.

Gordon Robertson, the Chief Driving Consultant at Porsche, took a Porsche 935 out at the Porsche Experience Center in Silverstone, UK, to give us a glimpse at just how powerful and dynamic the car is, even by today’s standards. The featured car boasts a 3.2-liter flat-six engine that develops approximately 600 bhp on just 1.0 BAR of boost. Under full boost, it’s possible to achieve 760 bhp! Even the transmission was turned upside-down in order to obtain a better center of gravity.

Take four minutes from your busy day to enjoy Robertson driving the legendary Porsche 935. You’ll thank us afterwards.
