The Porsche Museum Gives us a Lesson on the 911 Carrera RSR

From the racetrack to the road.

The Porsche name has been known throughout motorsports for its success throughout its history. One of the models that helped to establish the brand as one of the best names in racing was the 911 Carrera RSR.

The Porsche 911 Carrera RSR was an instant winner, claiming seven German and three International Championships in its first year of racing, while also providing stiff competition at the Nürburgring and 24 Hours of Le Mans. It then went on to win almost every GT category in 1973.

When the 911 Carrera RSR first started competing, the 900 kg (1,984 lbs.) race car was powered by a 300 bhp 2.8-liter flat-six engine. Later, the engine displacement was increased to 3.0 liters and output was bumped up to 310 bhp. It became a legend for its success and will continue to be idolized in the Porsche Museum forever.
