Friday FAIL: The Police Hit and Run

There’s a whole lotta fail going on here.

One Orlando Police Officer is in some trouble over an incident that happened in January of this year as a result of an accident and some stupidity from both parties involved. While on patrol, officer Michael Fiorentino-Tyburski struck 36 year-old Tetris Nunn as he was standing in the crosswalk while it was against the signal and was unsafe to do so.

After making the turn left into the crosswalk, Fiorentino-Tyburski hit Nunn and knocked him to the ground. The Officer got out of his car and went to speak with Nunn as he was on the ground. The officer asked if Nunn was okay, to which he allegedly told the officer “Yes,” and after three minutes, Fiorentino-Tyburski left the scene.

Now, let’s back up for a minute. First off, FAIL on you, Nunn for being in the crosswalk against the signal and just standing there while there is traffic around you; that’s NEVER a good idea. Police found Nunn at fault for the incident due to this, but that doesn’t mean the Officer isn’t in the wrong here either. After just asking if he was okay when he’s on the ground and in obvious pain – so much so that another bystander called 911 and said Nunn needed medical attention – he left, and the emergency dispatcher had to ask Fiorentino-Tyburski if he was indeed at the scene and hit him. What was his reply? A question! So, big FAIL on you too, Officer Fiorentino-Tyburski.

After the incident and as the investigation continues, Officer Fiorentino-Tyburski was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, but is being allowed to continue his patrol duties. Big FAIL on both parties for causing the accident and making it ten times worse.
