Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package Exposed

The mighty LFA gets even better.

In May, Lexus will be entering the LFA in the famous 24 Hours of Nürburgring endurance race. To commemorate the entry into the race, Lexus has introduced the Nürburgring package for the LFA. Numerous aerodynamic and mechanical modifications have been made, turning the LFA into a ferocious beast on the track.

As part of the Nürburgring package the LFA receives an increase in 10 horsepower, resulting in an output of 562 brake horsepower from the roaring 4.8-liter V-10. The six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox (ASG) has also been modified to change gear in a lighting-fast 0.15 seconds, 0.05 seconds quicker than stock. Acceleration to 62 mph takes only 3.7 seconds, as the LFA flies to a 202 mph top speed.

Aerodynamics play a key role in motorsport, which is why engineers at Lexus have given the LFA new Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) components with the new Nürburgring package. At the front is a new CFRP spoiler with side flics, while the rear sports a new CFRP fixed rear wing for increased downforce. The increase in downforce gives the LFA Nürburgring better handling and stability that is essential for racing. Even with the added downforce, the LFA still retains its impressive 200+mph top speed.

Also added to the LFA are new mesh wheels. The wheels are shod in grippy high-performance tires, giving the powerful V-10 even better traction. For improved track performance the Nürburgring package also includes a sport tune for enhanced handling characteristics.

Only 50 of the 500 LFA Nürburgring package will be available. Customers who order the Nürburgring Package will receive a one-year driving pass along with optional driver training on the Nordschleife circuit from chief Nürburgring instructors. Pricing has not been released.
