A caravan of high-powered Hot Rods, Street Rods, Muscle Cars, Resto-Mods and High-Performance cars will pull out on a 1,200-mile road trip on this Saturday, June 1st. The event is called the Hot Rod Power Tour and it starts the 2013 season of summer cruising.

The Hot Rod Power Tour begins in Arlington Texas and rolls on for six days with stops in Birmingham, Alabama, Little Rock, Arkansas and a host of other cities.

Special attractions on the tour include:

The 1967 Hot Wheels Custom Concept, a tribute to car included in the original 16-car collection in 1968. The car will also feature Chevy’s new LS3 E-ROD Connect and Cruise Powertrain.

The Corvette that paced this year’s Indianapolis 500 race.

Mothers Car Polish will bring along the Mustang RTR Spec 3 that they presented at SEMA last year. The Mothers Big Rig and crew will be present at every stop and they will have giveaways, tech seminars and some of our finest car care products. A Corvette ZR-1 and “ProPane” Chevelle will be at their display as well.

A few of the Chevrolet Performance toys will be part of the tour for closer inspection and ample drooling.

Cruise-in events on each stop on the tour where thousands of hot rods, street rods, muscle cars, spectators and performance vehicles can assemble and enjoy the rush of adrenaline and the smell of burned rubber and gasoline (or ethanol).

Year One, supplier of original parts for late model and classic cars will undoubtedly be on hand to wow us with another heart-stopping showcase.

The Hot Wheels Performance Trailer, where representatives will be on hand to answer question, give tips and advice for LS-engine conversion projects. Spectators can also grab a copy of the 2013 Chevrolet Performance Catalog, a cornucopia of engines, parts and accessories.

As always, when the companies finish their schpeel, there is always the parking lot as thousands of customs, resto-mods and pet projects leave the garage and take to the streets. This will be something to see.

The “Hot Rod Power Tour” began in 1995 when Hot Rod Magazine staff members decided to take some of their project cars on a cross-country drive from California to Ohio. Thousands of people participated along the way but only seven drivers outside of the staff, were inducted into the original “Long Hauler Gang”. The Tour is now one of the most anticipated automotive events each year. Each stop is combined with events or activities that vary as much as the participants themselves. If you are a lover of high-performance steel and you are near one of the Power Tour stops, you should make your way there. This is one of the fun summer events that make being a car enthusiast one of the greatest pleasures in the world.
