ABT Sportsline takes on the Audi TT-RS

“That’s how a car should look.”

Outside of the R8, the Audi TT-RS is quite possibly the most dynamic model from the German automaker. Its small size and smooth lines make it instantly recognizable as a sports car, and the potent turbocharged five-cylinder engine under the hood makes it quite the performer. The team at ABT Sportsline has taken their engineering prowess to the Audi TT-RS and has created a more dynamic sports car than ever before.

“That’s how a car should look like,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt, the CEO of ABT Sportsline. “For us, both the coupé and the roadster are an ideal basis to work with. After all, you can tell that it wants to perform by simply looking at a TT.”

And perform it does. The ABT Sportsline Audi TT-RS and its nostalgic turbocharged inline-five have been tuned for power and speed by the German company. The team installed a new air-to-air intercooler system, an ABT turbocharger, and stainless steel exhaust system along with a specialized ECU software tune, pushing output to a whopping 470 horsepower and 465 lb-ft. (630 Nm) of torque. This enables the Audi TT-RS to accelerate to 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 177 mph.

In stock form, the Audi TT-RS Coupe and Convertible versions have been optimized for aerodynamic efficiency and performance. Instead of adding on gaudy components that are detrimental to the sports car’s aerodynamic properties, ABT Sportsline added a lone rear spoiler that meshes with the profile of the TT-RS and improves high-speed stability.

Adding to the overall dynamics and performance is a newly modified chassis. The ABT Sportsline TT-RS benefits from new suspension springs that lower the overall ride height by 30 mm and an ABT sport brake system ensures maximum stopping power. ABT Sportsline offers their CR, DR, and ER wheels in 19- and 20-inch sizes but for those that want weight-optimized performance can opt for the ten-spoke, cast ER-C wheels or the forged ER-F alloy wheels paired up with high-performance tires.

All of the upgrades on the ABT Sportsline Audi TT-RS can be purchased and installed on both the Coupe and Convertible variants of the German sports car.
