BREAKING NEWS: THE PORSCHE 918 SPYDER IS FAST

The seven-minute mark at the Nürburgring Nordschleife has stood like an insurmountable barrier for production cars for years. For quite some time, automakers have battled each other trying to get the fastest time with their cars and snap the seven-minute mark. Now, Porsche has broken the production car record around the legendary track with the new 918 Spyder.

Dressed in Martini Racing livery with Marc Lieb behind the wheel, the Porsche 918 Spyder was able to go ‘round the ‘Ring in just 6:57. The 887 horsepower hybrid supercar is capable of reaching a top speed of 214 mph, while accelerating to 62 mph from rest in just 2.8 seconds.

Porsche was so proud of their newest record that they decided to share the video of the run with all of us. One thing we can take away from the video is that the Porsche 918 Spyder has tons of grip and can handle those corners with ease. It also has a wonderful exhaust note, which isn’t always something you can expect from a hybrid.
