BMW M Performance Accessories

OEM fun stuff.

The BMW M6 range and M5 models are high-powered sports coupes/sedans/convertibles that draw their performance from a long line of motorsports success. Just ask DTM BMW Factory Driver, Martin Tomcyzk, who drives pilots the BMW M Performance Accessories M3 DTM car and drives an M6 Gran Coupe for personal use. But what makes Tomcyzk’s M6 Gran Coupe so special is that it wears a number of the new M Performance Accessories recently unveiled by the German company which he helped to create.

One of the most exciting accessories is the new M Performance exhaust silencer system that was developed with BMW Motorsports partner, Akrapovic in collaboration with BMW M GmbH. The exhaust system is made completely from titanium to reduce weight, corrosion, and heat. Overall, the system weighs 10 kg (22 lbs) less than the factory exhaust and includes perforated inner pipes and titanium tailpipe trims in a variety of layout designs. The exhaust can be fitted to the BMW M5 and all variants of the M6.

In terms of design and aerodynamic performance, the BMW M5 and M6 variants can all be fitted with special carbon fiber BMW M Performance Accessories. Keeping the tail of the cars stable at high speeds is a new carbon fiber spoiler and carbon fiber diffuser, while M Performance skirts can be worn on each side. Carbon fiber also decorates the side mirrors and a BMW M Performance high gloss black front grille with M-logo and performance foils on the front fascia help give the cars a more powerful look. Customers can also opt for the classic M Performance front and rear strips for that extra styling highlight.

Even more performance can be gained out of the BMW M5, M6 Coupe, M6 Cabriolet, and M6 Gran Coupe thanks to the new M-carbon ceramic brake system. The new upgrade requires the installation of 20-inch M light alloy wheels to allow the 410 mm front and 396 mm rear discs and their respective 6-piston and single-piston calipers sufficient space. The system weighs 19.4 kg (42.8 lbs.) less than the factory brakes and offers even better wear resistance and heat dissipation. These brakes are instantly recognizable by their gold-painted finish and M-logo.

Inside, drivers can benefit from a variety of upgrades that give the M5 and M6 variants even more of a motorsports feel. This starts with the new BMW M Performance Alcantara leather steering wheel and race display. The upgrade displays the RPM and gearshift information integrated into the top of the steering wheel with LED lights, along with lateral and longitudinal acceleration values, and lap times. Carbon fiber can also be fitted throughout the cockpit and the DCT gear selector switch. Stainless steel foot pedals and M Performance floor mats give the lower-half of the interior a sportier feel as well.

The new range of BMW M Performance Accessories is currently available for the BMW M5, M6 Coupe, M6 Cabriolet, and M6 Gran Coupe with each upgrade designed specifically for each car. The upgrades do not affect the standard warranty for any car.
