Plug-in hybrid performance.

At the 2013 IAA in Frankfurt, Audi unveiled their new Sport Quattro Concept that showcased an all-new plug-in hybrid powertrain designed to knock your socks off. It was the successor to the Quattro Concept from 2011 and previewed a bit of what the German automaker has planned in the near future for its performance cars.

The Audi Sport Quattro Concept features a twin-turbocharged 4.0 TFSI V-8 engine and an electric motor to generate a total of 700 horsepower and 590 lb-ft. of torque. This enables the all-wheel drive concept to reach 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph while getting 94.09 US MPG / 2.5 liters per 100 km.

It’s an exciting concept that we’re really hoping the German automaker moves forward with and put into production. Now we have some real footage of it driving through some winding country roads, and it sounds fantastic.
