Get Crazy with the Lowenstein LM63-700 Compressor C63 AMG

Lowenstein LM63-700 C63 AMG

An in-your-face supercharged German wagon.

The W204-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class has run its course and is set to be replaced by the all-new W205-generation model at the 2014 NAIAS this month. But, that doesn’t mean that we still can’t have fun with the outgoing C63 AMG model, as the team at Lowenstein Manufaktur has demonstrated with their new LM63-700 Compressor upgrade.

Based on the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG wagon, the LM63-700 features a potent supercharger system that feeds the once-naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 with a healthy and constant dose of boost pressure. The Lowenstein team developed their own supercharger system for the M156 engine complete with a water-charging air cooling system to regulate temperatures. Sucking in air is a carbon fiber air intake setup while a full stainless steel exhaust with manifold and substitute catalytic converter pipes yells out all sorts of violent obscenities from the tailpipes. After an in-house software tune, output is pushed up to 702 horsepower and 651 lb-ft. of torque with a flat torque curve. As an option, drivers can change the supercharger capacity at the touch of a button in the cockpit.

Lowenstein thoroughly modified the chassis of the LM63-700 C63 AMG with a variety of upgrades aimed at throwing down the power. The team collaborated with Quaife to create a 100-percent automatic limited-slip differential to accommodate for the dramatic increase in power. A prototype coilover system created in conjunction with ZF Sachs works with the in-house chassis alignment to create a more dynamic ride and reduce the overall center of gravity for the monster German wagon. Helping bring the LM63-700 to a screeching halt is a set of in-house high-performance brakes that utilize eight-piston calipers and perforated 380 mm discs up front, and four-piston, 356 mm brakes at the rear.

Two new sets of wheels can be fitted on the supercharged Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG by Lowenstein. The featured wheels are one-piece “Klassik” 8.5 x 19 front and 9.5 x 19 rear wheels with 235/35ZR19 and 265/30ZR19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Optionally, 20-inch versions of the “Klassik” wheels are in development. Lowenstein also offers their three-piece “Rennsport” wheels in an 8.5 x 20 and 10.5 x 20 setup with corresponding Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

Aerodynamic efficiency and style were also a focus at Lowenstein with the LM63-700. The C63 AMG was outfitted with a front spoiler to reduce lift. The rear boasts a new carbon fiber spoiler and a specially-designed tailpipe cover that complements the new gold designs across the exterior. The final touch is a set of carbon fiber side mirrors.

The special Lowenstein touch is also visible inside. The cabin features a gold and black theme incorporating leather and alcantara with decorative carbon fiber and aramid strips across the dashboard and door panels. Beneath the beltline lies aluminum foot pedals, and soft velour floor and cargo mats.

The Lowenstein Manufaktur LM63-700 supercharged Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is currently available as an entire package or individual accessories, and is designed for W204-generation C63 AMG models.
