Burn baby, burn.
The new 991-generation Porsche 911 GT3 may have upset a few enthusiasts due to the fact that there is no manual option, but now it’s making its owners a bit fiery. In recent weeks, a few 2014-model-year 911 GT3s have been doing their best impersonation of an Italian exotic by spontaneously combusting into flames and destroying themselves.
Over the past few weeks, at least five of these German supercars have burst into flames with the fires starting in the engine bay. In response, Porsche has stopped producing the 911 GT3 for the time being while the cause is being investigated and recommending that owners stop driving their vehicles. All 785 cars that have been delivered are going to be inspected by Porsche and the German automaker is even offering to pick up each car so that they can inspect the engines.
Luckily, no accidents or injuries have occurred from the fires.
