TC 65 Exesor Biturbo Exposed

TC 65 Exesor Biturbo

The SL65 AMG Black Series convertible.

The SL65 AMG Black Series is a serious performer with its 670 horsepower engine, stiff suspension, and carbon fiber attire. But, for customers that have wanted an SL with both extreme performance and a folding top have been “stuck” with the SL65 AMG Roadster – until now. Thanks to TC Concepts, the SL65 AMG Roadster can now be transformed into a Black Series rival.

While the SL 65 AMG Roadster shares the same twin-turbocharged V-12 as the Black Series, it fails to churn out the same 670 horsepower, and is instead left with a measly 604 horses. In order to make a convertible that competes with the Black Series TC Concepts had to add some horsepower, and did so by sending an additional 86 horses to the rear wheels – 30 more than the Black Series. The increase in power comes as the result of modified air filter inserts, a new exhaust system to reduce backpressure, and retuned boost control and engine electronics.

Even though the TC 65 Exesor Biturbo had more power than the Black Series it lacked the same exclusivity and weight-shedding carbon fiber. To fix this, TC Concepts overhauled the entire exterior with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CRP). The front bumper, rear side panels, rear spoilers, and side skirts are all made of the lightweight composite to trim weight. The front hood, rear diffuser, and widened fenders are also made of CRP, and coated in special 600-carbon fiber for a sporty appearance.

To complement the bold styling, the German tuners have also added new wheels and a lowering module. For a striking look, TC Concepts has added Advance One’s ADV10 Deep Concave forged wheels. Finished with matte brushed gunmetal centers and gloss brushed gunmetal lips, the staggered 11 x 20 front and 13 x 20 wheels are fitted with 285/25 ZR20 front and 325/25 ZR20 rear Dunlop tires. To further enhance the Roadster’s handling a new TC Concepts lowering module is installed and lowers the ride height by 60 mm (2.36 in.).

Inside the TC 65 Exesor Biturbo Roadster, TC Concepts has created a comfortable interior (something the Black Series lacks) decorated with nappa leather, alcantara, and perforated suede with nappa silver lining. The completely revised interior also receives a new dashboard, trim, seats, console, and everything in between. The cabin is given a sportier character with a new Black Series steering wheel and gearshifter designed after the CLK63 Black Series.

Customers of the SL65 AMG Roadster that lust for Black Series performance can order the TC 65 Exesor Biturbo through www.TC-Concepts.de. Pricing and performance specifications have not been released.
