A quick trip around the Circuit of the Americas.
The 918 Spyder is the ultimate performance car from Porsche. All of the latest and greatest technology has been poured into this car to create a super-advanced hybrid hypercar that eclipses any kind of performance figures from Porsches that preceded it.
The newest hypercar is really fast, and to show just how fast it is, they gave it to multi-time Champion and Porsche Works Driver, Patrick Long at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas. Thankfully, he also strapped on a camera to record all the action from behind the wheel for us to enjoy.
The 4.6-liter V-8 and electric motors combine to produce 887 horsepower and 940 lb-ft. of torque for some blistering acceleration figures.
Long begins his lap by exiting the pits in all-electric mode before switching over to sport hybrid mode during the lap and then hot-lap mode as he reaches 170 mph on the back straight.
Boy, that’s fast.
