Ouch! A Mercedes-Benz 300SL is wrecked during Mille Miglia

Mercedes-Benz 300SL Crash Mille Miglia

A loss of a classic.

The Mile Miglia was a 1,000-mile endurance race that took place in Italy from 1927 to 1957 and was one of the ultimate competitions at the time. It made manufacturers like Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Ferrari, and others famous when their cars crossed the finish line in Viale Venezia, Brescia.

Of the 24 races that took place from 1927 to 1957, a total of 56 people lost their lives, causing the race to be banned. Since then it has been reformed as a classic 1,000-mile race of vintage and historic cars and racecars produced before 1957 as sort of a remembrance of the classic days of racing.

Unfortunately, that does not mean there are no accidents. This classic Mercedes-Benz 300SL was one of the latest victims at the Mille Miglia. According to reports, the 300SL collided with a BMW 1-Series that was on its way to Rome. The crash resulted in the drivers of both cars having to be transported to the hospital, but thankfully the injuries are not serious. What is serious is the damage done to the Mercedes-Benz 300SL and the price tag that will come along with it.
