Lumma Design Previews the CLR X 6 R F16 BMW X6

Wide is the name of the game.

The new F16-generation BMW X6 has just started to hit the market and the team at Lumma Design has already designed a new upgrade program for the Sport Activity Coupe. The fact that the crossover is so new has only allowed the team to create the CLR X 6 R as a concept with the goal of unveiling it at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Judging by the plans and the design concepts, the Lumma Design CLR X 6 R BMW X6 is going to be a mean, widebody monster.

Muscle is the name of the game here, and it starts visually with the Lumma Design CLR X 6 R. Both the front and the rear wheel axles have been extended by 50 mm on each side thanks to new widebody wheel arches with air inlets and outlets. Beef and brawn are shown up front in the form of a new front spoiler bumper bar with integrated DRL lights and a carbon fiber front spoiler base. Atop the engine sits a carbon fiber ventilated hood to keep things cool. The ventilated carbon fiber side skirts connect the extended wheel arches and provide a more uniform flow of bodywork as it runs towards the rear. The coupe-like profile of the BMW X6 ends with a beefy butt with the Lumma Design CLR X 6 R. A rear apron bumper bar includes a new diffuser with four integrated tailpipes below a rear spoiler and roof spoiler that work to generate downforce.

The next place that you’ll find some hardened muscle is the engine. While the official modifications and power figures haven’t been determined, the Lumma Design team has some lofty and exciting goals. The twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine found in the 50i variant is expected to gain larger turbochargers, a software optimization tune, and a valve-controlled sports exhaust system with racing catalytic converters. Lumma Design expects the CLR X 6 R to have an output of 590 horsepower and 627 lb-ft. of torque after all is said and done. That is expected to allow the BMW X6 to reach a 183 mph top speed.

Filling in those extended wheel arches is no easy job. Lumma Design used a set of their in-house concave CLR Racing wheels in a wide staggered 10.0 x 22 front and 12.0 x 22 rear setup with Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tires measuring 295/30/20 and 335/25/22. The CLR Racing wheels feature filigree spokes that can be given custom colors to match the standard silver and matte black finishes or customized colors for a unique look. Finishing off the commanding fitment are new Lumma performance racing springs that help improve handling as well.

Sport and luxury are two hallmarks shown in the interior of the Lumma CLR X 6 R. The Lumma Design saddlery team can outfit the entire interior with fine leather and alcantara in a variety of colors. Both the front and rear factory seats are removed in place of more supportive sport seats with integrated airbags with color-matched seatbelts. The floor is decorated with new velour mats with Lumma Design logos and aluminum pedals and footrest setup.

The new Lumma Design CLR X 6 R is currently in the development stage and the German company is working on completing it for the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Pricing and official details have not been released.
