Watch a POV Run of Pikes Peak with Jeff Zwart and a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Turbo

Jeff Zwart Pikes Peak 2014

A crazy Hill Climb Special.

Pikes Peak International is quite possibly the ultimate hill climb competition. A total of 12.42 miles and 156 turns are consumed by racers as they reach the finish line at the top of the 14,115-foot summit. The teams have to deal with all sorts of stresses put on the vehicles as well as the thinner air as the run progresses along with other challenges.

Jeff Zwart is a film director, cameraman, photographer, author, and racer. He pretty much does it all and has owned the mountain for quite some time. At this year’s event, he was behind the wheel of the Porsche GT3 Cup Turbo Hill Climb Special. He strapped on a helmet camera for the folks at /DRIVE and got behind the wheel to give us a taste of what it’s like to conquer Pikes Peak.

Unfortunately, right after his run started, one of the fuel pumps failed and he was forced to deal with the issue for the entire run up the winding road. Even with the malfunction, he was still able to achieve an incredible 10:01.917 time – just 1.2 seconds off the first-place run!

Hats off to the master!
