K.MAN/Chiptrick Gives Us Three Flavors of Turbo Audi R8 V10s

Fast, faster, and fastest.

Chiptrick has had some fun with the Audi R8 before. The German tuner teamed up with XXX Performance for the 4.2-liter Audi R8 and served up three stages of turbocharged engines ranging in output from 590 to 707 horsepower. Now, they’re back at it under their brand K.MAN with the Audi R8 V10 with even better power figures.

Since there are three factory performance versions of the R8 V10, Chiptrick/K.MAN decided that it was only appropriate to make three corresponding upgrade programs. The R8 V10, R8 V10 Plus, and R8 GT, each get an opponent from the German tuner, with the GTK, GTK S, and GTK RS.

With weight being such a focus with the factory models, the team decided to put each of their models on a diet and trim them down. The GTK, for example, now weighs in a 3,703 lbs. – 88 lbs. lighter than the V10 and only 22 lbs. heavier than the V10 Plus. Thanks to a new twin-turbocharger upgrade, software tuning, air intake optimization, and more, the GTK boasts 590 horsepower, the GTK S has 640, and the top-dog GTK RS packs 750 horsepower. That makes for an incredible power-to-weight ratio in each variant, with the GTK boasting a 6.28 lbs./hp compared to the 7.23 lbs/hp in the V10; the GTK S with 5.82 lbs./hp vs. the V10 Plus’ 6.70 lbs./hp; and the GTK RS’s 5.00 lbs./hp vs the R8 GT’s 6.39 lbs./hp.

Those impressive power-to-weight ratios also result in some pretty impressive acceleration times. The sprint from 0-124 mph takes just 11.9 seconds for the GTK, 11.4 seconds for the GTK S, and a mere 10.6 seconds for the GTK RS. Each of the models also feature a full, specially-developed exhaust system with Cross-X pipe and valve control to let their V-10 engines roar.

While power may be the name of the game with Chiptrick/K.MAN, the team did take steps to improve the overall handling and stopping power for their GTK S and GTK RS models. The two models were equipped with a Bilstein clubsport suspension for sharper cornering and a better center of gravity while the GTS RS also benefits from a new reinforced braking system due to its enormous potential for speed and acceleration.

All three models from Chiptrick/K.MAN are built without adding on visual modifications, however, the team can add on red-painted brake calipers, rim covers, and even a DTM-styled exterior body kit with carbon fiber parts as an option.

The power increases for the Chiptrick/K.MAN Audi R8 V10 GTK, GTK S, and GTK RS may be eye-popping but the team worked hard to ensure that everyday drivability was maintained. Each model also comes with a standard 24-month warranty.
