Hamann Ferrari California Exposed

Debuting at the 2008 Paris Auto show was the 2009 Ferrari California, a V-8 powered hard top convertible priced under $200,000. Just under a year later German based tuning company Hamann Motorsport debuted their tuning program for the Ferrari California at the 63rd Frankfurt International Auto Show.

The Hamann Ferrari California most notably features new bodywork, not only designed to look good, but to increase aerodynamic properties of the car. A carbon fiber hood was installed to reduce the car’s weight. Spoilers at the front and rear of the California produce downforce and give the car an aggressive appearance. To further increase stability at high speeds Hamann developed a three-piece rear diffuser, new side skirts and a lowered suspension.

New Edition Race wheels made from forged aluminum by Hamann are used to further reduce weight of the California, resulting in greater performance. With titanium bolting, a black varnish rim star, and a polished rim flanges, the Hamann California will appear as more of a devilish child than the “baby Ferrari” nickname it has been given. Tires measuring 245/30ZR21 at the front and 345/25ZR21 at the rear are wrapped around 21×9 inch front and 21×12.5 inch rear wheels.

Behind the aggressive bodywork is a direct injection 4.3-liter V-8 with some added muscle thanks to a Hamann Motorsport training routine. A new sport exhaust along with a revised engine management system boost horsepower by 20 percent from 460hp to a powerful 552 hp.

Hamann also provides an interior program to customers with options ranging from a finished leather interior to personalized floor mats.
