DMC Does the MSO with the McLaren MP4-12C

DMC McLaren MP4-12C MSO

Time to cut through air.

Owners of supercars don’t always leave their cars alone. While they come with some pretty amazing factory setups, it’s often not enough to satisfy their need for speed. McLaren has an in-house MSO (McLaren Special Operations) division that is more than happy to add on some custom-tailored goodies, but sometimes that’s not even enough.

This McLaren MP4-12C customized by MSO was also given the exclusive treatment by the team at DMC Exotic Car Tuning Limited. The European specialists added on all sorts of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber and titanium to extract even more performance and looks out of the mid-engined supercar.

The featured DMC McLaren MP4-12C wears an MSO-designed front fascia so it was left alone for this application. However, DMC does have a few tricks up their sleeve in the form of a front lip, center sword, and F1 canards in carbon fiber if needed. Two new side skirts help improve the aerodynamics along each side of the supercar while a new diffuser with two extra fins sits on the rear bumper. The factory rear spoiler benefits from a lightweight base while a new DMC wing sits atop and works with the roof-mounted air scoop to optimize downforce and aerodynamics.

Further development of the DMC McLaren MP4-12C MSO came in the form of new forged wheels – the widest on the market. The fat new rollers feature a five double-spoke design with black finish to contrast the silver paint and measure a staggered 8.5J x 20 up front and 12.0J x 21 at the rear. Softer 245/30 R20 and 325/25 R21 Pirelli P-Zero tires are the recommended tires of choice for this lightweight forged wheels.

Putting all of that new carbon fiber aerodynamics and stickier rubber to work is the tuned, twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 engine sitting behind the cabin. The factory 592 horsepower and 442-lb-ft. of torque output was boosted by a new ECU performance package and lightweight titanium exhaust system to create a total of 660 horsepower and 502 lb-ft. of torque.

While the exterior of the DMC McLaren MP4-12C MSO might be focused on tearing up tracks, the interior can be a place of luxury and relaxation or of carbon-fiber-clad athleticism. This particular supercar was outfitted with red leather panels at their wish. Any kind of design or styling can be installed by the DMC interior team with a wide range of materials and almost any color.

The featured DMC McLaren MP4-12C MSO is just an example of what the European-based company is capable of accomplishing. The full program along with all sorts of custom accessories is currently available for all McLaren MP4-12C owners.
