At the beginning of summer we published an article with our picks for the Top 5 Summer Convertibles and asked you for some of your favorites. We are now proud to bring you the Top 5 Summer Convertibles as chosen by you, our loyal facebook fans. Without further adieu, we bring you what the big boys like Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and Automobile Magazine failed to do; your picks for the Top Summer Convertibles.

Porsche 911(993) Cabriolet: Karl Sease

The last of the legendary air-cooled 911s, the 993 generation is a highly sought after 911 by Porsche enthusiasts, said by some to be the greatest generation of the 911 since the original was introduced in 1963. Powered by an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine making either 272- or 285-hp (depending on model year) , the 993 Cabriolet produced a sweet air-cooled exhaust note that has been absent from the 911 since 1998. Chosen by Karl Sease, a proud owner of a 1995 Porsche 911 (993) Cabriolet, this convertible provides the classic air-cooled soundtrack for a unique summer driving experience.

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster: Connor J Nepomuceno

Inspired by the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, the SLR was developed by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. The top choice of Connor J Nepomuceno, the 617-hp, supercharged V-8 hypercar provides insane performance in an ultra-exclusive package, taking just 3.8 seconds to reach 62 mph and reaching a top speed of 206 mph. Taking only ten seconds to fold away the roof, the SLR Roadster allows for occupants to hold a conversation without the interruption of road noise up to a speed of 120 mph. For those that seeking a high-octane summer drive, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster is waiting for you.

1968 Shelby GT500KR Convertible: Darren Turner

The original “King of the Road”, the Shelby GT500KR was introduced in 1968, packing a 428 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V-8 rated at 335-hp – although we all know it was closer to 400-hp. New fiberglass nose panels, air vents, scoops, intakes, and other exterior features gave the GT500KR and intimidating face, and put the Shelby in a class of its own amongst muscle cars of the time. Chosen by Darren Turner, the Shelby GT500KR Convertible was limited to a production of just 318 examples, making it one of the most sought-after Mustangs to enjoy a summer drive in. So, if you want props at the beach, take Darren’s advice, and “roll up in a Shelby.”

1967 Corvette Convertible 427: Erik Texter and Mohamad Khalifi

Making its debut in 1963, the second-generation (C2) Corvette roared into the auto world with explosive V-8s and unmistakable styling. For 1966 and -67 model years, Chevrolet offered a 427 cubic-inch Big-Block V-8, pumping out 435 tire-roasting ponies, along with the optional four-wheel disc brake and side exhaust options introduced in 1965. A favorite amongst both Erik Texter and Mohamad Khalifi, the Corvette will always be an American muscle icon, best demonstrated by the classic styling of the 1967 Corvette Convertible 427 – just make sure ours is equipped with side exhausts!

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible Fuelie: Erik Texter

One of the most well known American automobiles of all-time, the Chevrolet Bel Air is an icon of automotive design and style. This “Sweet, Smooth and Sassy!” Chevrolet is one of the most collectable models for its bold styling and fuel injected 283 cubic-inch 283-hp V-8, allowing Chevrolet to be the first to flaunt “one horsepower per cubic inch” in the auto industry. Packing an advanced engine, shimmering chrome, striking headlights and tail fins, and large front bumper, the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible Fuelie was Eric Texter’s top pick. This symbol of American engineering and style is a perfect boulevard summer cruiser that recalls the days of classic automotive design.
