Get Ready for the Prior Design PD900GT SLS AMG

More power is coming to town.

Prior Design got us all hot and bothered when they unveiled their PD900GT Widebody Aerodynamic kit designed for the big, bad Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. While the Gullwing supercar is no longer in production, it’s going to be grabbing headlines for a while with this upgrade program.

The new Prior Design PD900GT makes the sleek German missile that is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG a wide brute with optimized cooling and downforce. The new PD900GT aero kit is comprised of a new front bumper with cup wings that generate downforce on either side of the bumper. New side skirts extend outwards and downwards and connect the widened front and rear fenders. The low, fat look culminates with the rear bumper that boasts an integrated diffuser to redirect air as it leaves the underbody of the supercar. A new ventilated hood and large trunk spoiler optionally available in carbon fiber complete the aggressive styling of the PD900GT Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

But that’s only part of the fun. The dramatic looks of the PD900GT are complemented by a newly-tuned and modified chassis. Here, Prior Design can install a new set of three-piece forged Rotiform SNA wheels that measure a staggered 9.0 x 20 up front and 11.0 x 21 +5 at the rear, shod in 245/30 ZR20 and 305/25 ZR21 Dunlop SU 5P tires, respectively. The low, flush look comes thanks to a KW coilover suspension that drops the ride height by 35 mm.

And then there’s the power. The utterly brutal 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V-8 that sits just aft of the front axle is opened up with the addition of a milled and welded exhaust system that includes 200-cell racing catalytic converters, exhaust manifold, and flap-controlled muffler setup. That’s good for a 40 horsepower boost and can be paired up with a new ECU tune that increases output by another 30 horsepower and 30 lb-ft. of torque.
