Gemballa founder found murdered in South Africa

Body of legendary Porsche tuner found after being reported as missing in February.

One of the most respected names in the world of aftermarket tuning, Uwe Gemballa, was reported missing in February after a business trip to South Africa. The body of the former CEO of Gemballa Automobiletechnik was found wrapped in cellophane film west of Pretoria.

Authorities believe that Gemballa was lured to South Africa by organized crime boss Radovan Krejcir. The pair agreed to a business deal and when Gemballa was slow to get money, Krejcir said “…you’re a dead man.” On February 8th, Gemballa was forced to call his wife and ask for one million dollars. When the money was not received, Gemballa was shot.

We at MotoringExposure are saddened by the loss of a tuning icon. In the days since, former employees have been working to restore the company to its former glory. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Uwe Gemballa.
