While the team at B&B Automobiltechnik have been working with mainly Audi/Volkswagen vehicles during their 30-year history, the company has decided to expand their tuning portfolio into other German automakers such as BMW. With the BMW M3 and M4s wreaking havoc on roads across the world, it only made sense for them to create a full tuning program dedicated to the sports cars.
The B&B team developed three stages of tuning for the TwinPower 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder engines in the BMW M3 and M4 models. Stages 1 and 2 push output to 490- and 540 horsepower, respectively, while Stage 3 brings it all the way up to 580 horsepower and 553 lb-ft. of torque. In Stage 3, the 0-62mph time drops to 3.5 seconds while 0-124 mph takes only 11.2 seconds. The top speed limited was also dropped, giving the sports car the ability to reach 205 mph.
Each stage of tuning includes a software modification for the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox as well as different combinations of upgraded turbochargers, high-flow intakes, larger downpipes, intercoolers, and ECU software tunes to achieve the increase in power. B&B Automobiltechnik also recommends a supplementary oil system that reduces thermal stress and oil temperatures by up to 25-degrees Celsius.
To add a bit more slice and dice to the chassis, B&B Automobiltechnik gives the option of either a height-adjustable suspension kit that lowers the ride height by up to 25 mm or a set of sport springs that have a 30 mm front and 20 mm rear drop. For those that really want a nimble chassis, they can opt for the KW coilover setup with adjustable height, bound, and rebound characteristics.
Currently in development is a full brake upgrade kit with 396 mm front and 380 mm rear ventilated discs that fit the factory 19-inch BMW wheels. As an option, new B&B Automobiltechnik 9.0 x 20 and 11.0 x 20 front and rear wheels shod in 255/30 R20 and 305/25 R20 tires can be installed as well.
The new B&B Automobiltechnik upgrade kits for the BMW M3 (F80) and M4 (F82) are currently available as complete upgrade packages or individual accessories.
