Toyota’s Tribute to a Legendary Test Driver

The one and only master.

In June of 2010, Toyota’s Chief Test Driver and Chief Test Engineer, Hiromu Naruse, passed away while testing a Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition just outside of the Nürburgring race track in Germany. Since joining the company in 1963, Naruse has had his hand in virtually every sportscar from Toyota. The Toyota Sports 800, 1600GT, 2000GT, MR2, Celica, Supra, Lexus IS, LFA, and even the second-generation Prius all were tested and developed by Nause.

To honor Hiromu Naruse, Toyota has released a video celebrating his life and 47-year career.
