The ultimate Land Rover Defender.
There’s a reason that the Land Rover Defender has developed a reputation for being able to go anywhere and do anything. Its durability and off-road performance with a classic, utilitarian design is just what the doctor ordered for any kind of terrain. The SUV has been in production for 68 years, and that finally came to an end in January. To celebrate the heritage of the icon, the team at Kahn Design has created the Flying Huntsman 110 6×6 Defender Double Cab Pickup.
The new Flying Huntsman 110 6×6 Defender Double Cab Pickup is coachbuilt by a select team of 40 designers, engineers, and craftsmen making it a bespoke tribute to one of the greatest off-road models of all-time.
At the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show, the Flying Huntsman 110 6×6 Defender Double Cab Pickup was on display with a special Volcanic Rock paint. The entire SUV has been lengthened by 880 mm and is also 150 mm wider thanks to the addition of new body work and an extra axle.
The terrain-eating, three-axle monster that is the Flying Huntsman 110 6×6 Defender Pickup wears an intimidating set of extended front and rear fenders with integrated vents made from lightweight composite. Up front, an X-Lander front grille with light surrounds, Shadow Chrome headlights, Tron ring lights, and fog lights stares ahead while a more purposeful bumper replacement sits below. The spare wheel with Chelsea Truck Company cover sits inside of the bed, behind the cab, surrounded by monstrous roll bars.
Giving the bespoke British beast that extra boost of confidence is a more than capable chassis. The entire suspension was upgraded along with the brakes while locking differentials were added along with a six-speed automatic transmission. A total of six Kahn 1948 Defend wheels measuring 8.0 x 16 with 235/70/16 tires are more than ready for anything thrown their way. Protruding from each of the rear mud flaps are cross-hair exhaust tips for a cleaner aesthetic.
While the exterior of the Flying Huntsman 110 6×6 Defender Pickup is functional and imposing, the interior provides a more welcoming atmosphere. Each seat, the center glove box, arm rests, and headliner is dressed in quilted and perforated red Nappa leather. A Churchill time clock fascia insert along with a billet and leather steering wheel provide a high-end motoring touch that will put a smile on any driver’s face.
The Flying Huntsman 110 6×6 Defender Double Cab Pickup will be available as a fully-customizable vehicle for customers, however only a limited number of vehicles will be built per year, with sales of the 2.2-liter diesel models expected to go fast.
