AC Schnitzer BMW 5 Series (F11) Exposed

BMW’s newest 5 Series receives the AC Schnitzer “Power Treatment”.

The BMW 5 Series (F11) Touring is a brilliant package that combines the superb driving dynamics associated with the German automaker with SUV-like utility. And with the numerous diesel engines available, the Touring boasts superior efficiency. So how do you improve upon what already could be one of the most well-rounded automobiles? That’s where the tuning specialists at AC Schnitzer come in with their “Power Treatment” that adds more power, aerodynamic components, and styling to the sporty wagon.

BMW offers a number of different gasoline and diesel engines for the new 5 Series Touring, with the torque-filled diesels being the focus for AC Schnitzer. In all, the tuning specialists offer upgrades for the 520d, 525d, 530d, and the featured 535d, with each receiving a power boos of approximately 40 horsepower each. The top-of-the-line 3.0-liter inline-six diesel in the 535d produces 300 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. of torque stock, but after the AC Schnitzer BMW “Power Treatment” it makes 360 horsepower and a monstrous 509 lb-ft. of toque. The added power reduces the 0-62 mph acceleration time to just 5.5 seconds while 50-75 mph acceleration drops to just 10.2 seconds, all without an increase in C02 emissions and a two-year warranty. Additionally, AC Schnitzer also offers an engine styling kit with displacement graphic for all models, and “Racing” tailpipe trims for the 520d, 535d, and 530d.

Backing up the added power under the hood of the 5 Series Touring are some new aerodynamic components. AC Schnitzer focused on giving the wagon a more aggressive appearance by using subtle bodywork. Up front, the fascia features a new spoiler that improves downforce at the front axle and an optional chrome grille. As an option, customers can also order new hood vents to help cool the engine. AC Schnitzer also has fitted new side skirts that can also be trimmed in chrome for a striking look. At the rear a new roof spoiler increases downforce, while the new exhausts are integrated into the new skirt insert. To protect against harmful scratches, a rear foil kit is available.

Completing the overall aesthetics while also improving the driving dynamics are wheel, suspension, and brake upgrades. AC Schnitzer allows customers to create a custom appearance for the 5 Series by offering five different wheel choices ranging from 18 to 21 inches. The featured wheels are the five-spoke Type V Lightweight Forged that measure 9 J x 20 up front and 10 J x 20 at the rear, wearing 245/35 R20 and 285/30 R20 tires respectively. Hidden behind the forged wheels is a new high-performance braking system that utilizes eight-piston calipers and 374 mm ventilated discs to bring the wagon to a halt. Ride and handling dynamics are improved with the new AC Schnitzer spring kit, lowering the 5 Series by 25 mm.

The interior of the 5 Series Touring also receives the “Power Treatment” from AC Schnitzer. The entire trim can be replaced with new black “Exclusiv” carbon components for a sportier atmosphere. Contrasting the carbon fiber trim are new aluminum floor pedals and a new i-Drive controller cover. At the center of the interior upgrades is a new sports steering wheel with matching black carbon fiber insert that gives greater emphasis to the upgraded dynamics. New velour floor mats and trunk mats are also available for a more comfortable feel.

The new AC Schnitzer 5 Series Touring (F11)tuning program for the  is currently available. As with all AC Schnitzer programs, individual accessories can also be purchased separately.
