MEC Design works their Magic on the Ferrari 458 Italia

Not saying goodbye just yet.

The Ferrari 458 Italia might’ve been replaced by the new twin-turbocharged 488 GTB more than a year ago, but the team at MEC Design is making sure that it still makes quite an impact. The Berlin-based company accomplished this goal by developing a new exterior design package, chassis setup, interior goodies, and a new exhaust for the last of the naturally-aspirated Ferraris.

While MEC Design wanted to make the Ferrari 458 Italia a head-turner, they didn’t want to take away from the factory styling. So, they developed the three-piece “Scossa Rossa” body kit that includes a new front spoiler lip with corner dive planes, side skirts, and a multi-section rear diffuser with under-run protection.

In addition to the new kit, MEC Design gave the Ferrari 458 Italia a few matte black pieces such as the new aerodynamics, intake grille, and the badging. Even the door locks and rear light clusters wear a black finish.

As part of the new visual package, MEC Design installed a set of meCCon CCd5 lightweight alloy wheels. The five double-spoke wheels measure 9.5 x 21 up front and a wide 12.5 x 21 at the rear, and are shod in 245/30 ZR21 and 345/25 ZR21 high-performance tires for added grip. The black theme continues here as well with the spokes wearing a matte black finish with the outer rim and barrel sporting a shiny gloss black. Every one of the exposed bolts features a contrasting yellow finish to match the massive Brembo brake calipers peering behind. Finishing it all off is a new sport suspension kit that reduces the ride height by up to 60 mm for a slammed look.

The main focus for MEC Design was the styling of the Ferrari 458 Italia, but the high-revving 4.5-liter V-8 engine wasn’t completely neglected. The naturally-aspirated motor was outfitted with a new ‘Apocalypse’ sport exhaust system with black-finished triple tailpipes at the rear.

Inside, MEC Design gave the Prancing Horse a new carbon fiber trim kit for the doors, dashboard, and console along with color-coded sill plates, MEC Design floor mats, and LED lights.
