Time to Fly with this 1,500-HP Twin-Turbo Viper!

Texas Invitational Twin Turbo Dodge Viper

Street-spec, high-horsepower fun at the Texas Invitational.

When it comes to serious, high-horsepower super cars that are made for breaking records at the drag strip, there’s usually no such thing as “street legal”. Well, except for this twin-turbocharged Dodge Viper packing 1,500 horsepower at the Texas Invitational, that is.

That mighty 8.4-liter V-10 engine is packed full of naturally-aspirated madness in stock form, but when you add on a pair of turbochargers and other heavy modifications, you get a whopping 1,500 horsepower output. That’s usually reserved for track-only cars outfitted with parachutes, full roll cages, and more.

But this venomous blue Dodge Viper is still street legal and doesn’t come with hardcore track-only modifications. Why? Because nobody else is packing 1,500-horsepower on the road – except the Bugatti Chiron.

Here, at the Texas Invitational, it went up against other high-output straight-line racers and handled itself pretty admirably considering the fact that it’s a street car with road-legal tires.
