JeanRichard’s 2011 Timepieces – Wednesday Watch

JeanRichard introduced a few new models this week during the SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) 2011 exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland. We would like to highlight three of them:  the Bressel, Aquascope (Lady Night) and Highlands models.

JeanRichard Highlands

The Highlands is a revival of a mid-1990s model by JeanRichard, a dedicated sports watch for all kinds of adventures. The ecru color dial is similar to its original from approximately a decade ago. The hour markers are oversized luminous Arabic numbers and the large black hour and minute hands, also with a luminous inlay, make this JeanRichard Highlands a useful tool watch.

Tonneau shaped sand blasted cases with round bi-directional rotating bezels are very unconventional, yet strikingly recognizable as a JeanRichard signature. This 44.5mm x 40mm sized watch continues to stress the importance (and demand) of large watches in 2011.

JeanRichard Highlands JR1000 Movement

Inside, JeanRichard ‘s in-house movement caliber JR1000 ticks at 28.800 beats per hour.

JeanRichard Aquascope Lady Night

Second up is JeanRichard’s lady’s watch, the Aquascope Lady Night. It is a diving watch inspired by historic JeanRichard diving watches of the 1960s. This decade was singularly important in the history of JeanRichard watches, as they made a name for themselves as creators of diving watches.

The Aquascope Lady Night’s dial is set with 8 diamond indexes marking the hours, while the black aluminum bezel uses alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces. In technical terms, the Aquascope stays true to the caliber JR1000 automatic movement manufactured in JeanRichard’s workshops.

JeanRichard Bressel

Last but certainly not least is JeanRichard’s Bressel, created in homage to Daniel. Daniel JeanRichard that is, founder of the brand and who was born in Les Bressel. An elegant classic looking watch, 38mm in diameter, it sports a very unusual dial layout. The hours and minutes are displayed off centre at 12 o’clock, freeing up space for the other functions: date, power reserve and second indicator.

The JR1040 movement, developed and produced in-house to the highest production standards, allows the time to be displayed as described above.

JeanRichard Watchmaker

The functions are arranged using traditional watchmaking stylistic elements: Roman numerals, a “railway” minute track and leaf-shaped hands in blued steel. The case is only 10.75mm thick which makes this a very suitable watch for formal occasions.

By introducing these incredible timepieces to the world, JeanRichard has once again put themselves on the horological map in 2011.
