Nobuhiro Tajima and his Record-Breaking Pikes Peak Video

Shattering the ten-minute mark.

Every year eleven classes of racecars along with thousands of spectators gather at Pikes Peak in Colorado for The Race to the Clouds. The 12.42-mile hill climb event is comprised of both pavement and gravel, has almost 5,000 feet of elevation change, and is one of the most dangerous races in the world.

For quite some time, racers at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb have tried to break the ten-minute mark to no avail. In 2007, Nobuhiro Tajima came so close, but just missed with a 10:01.47 time. At the 2011 event, Tajima was able to set a new record while driving a 910-horsepower 2011 Suzuki SX4 HillClimb Special with a time of just 9:51.278. GoPro installed a few cameras on Tajima’s SX4 to record the record breaking drive.

Hold on to your seatbelts and check out the Pikes Peak Video!
