G-Power M3 reaches 333 km/h at the Nardò High Speed Track

You’re going to need over 900 horsepower to beat this BMW.

Every year dozens of tuning companies gather at the Nardò high speed test track for the annual event held by Auto Motor-und-Sport magazine. The 12.5-kilimoter long ring has a diameter of 4 km and an infinite steep curve, allowing for a virtually unlimited straight line simulation. The top speed test is a challenge for car tuners. The sweltering heat takes a toll on engines that are under constant load attempting to reach such high speeds, and can often result in reliability issues.

G-Power looks at the event as a chance to not only test, but showcase their reliability, quality, and engineering, not to mention overall performance. The 2011 event marked the third time that G-Power ran their cars at Nardò, each time gaining valuable information about their products.

Each G-Power BMW component is developed using precise CAD based on industry standards and prototyping, then built to OEM quality specifications. Road tests are carried out in the United Arab Emirates to ensure hot-weather dependability. G-Power is the only BMW tuner to utilize technology from their partner, AVL, during the development process. The AVL technology helps engineers to determine the combustion pressure in the engine’s chambers, ensuring that the ECU maintains maximum combustion pressure with new upgrades. ASA superchargers have also been chosen by G-Power for their proven reliability and performance.

At the run, G-Power used a BMW M3 fitted with their standard production upgrades to demonstrate the companies’ engineering superiority. The G-Power M3 wore in-house Silverstone wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport road tires, a GM3 RS coil-over suspension, and the G-Power SK II “Sporty Drive” supercharger system that boosts output to 570 horsepower. The M3 was also equipped with standard G-Power front and rear aerodynamic body work. Optionally, G-Power can outfit the M3 with 396 mm front and 380 mm rear steel or ceramic brake discs with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers that provide over 1.0G of deceleration force.

G-Power drove the M3 1,500 km from Bavarian Autenzell to the Nardò high speed track for the event. Vice President and Technical Director at G-Power, Christian Stöber was behind the wheel of the M3 on the track and was able to reach a top speed of 333.29 km/h (207.10 mph) on Sunday, May 22nd. In addition to the top speed, the G-Power M3 reached 62 mph in 4.4 seconds and 124 mph in 12.9 seconds in 29°C heat. The only other cars that were able to top the M3 boasted 900 and 1,000 horsepower outputs.

After the event, Stöber drove the M3 back to Autenzell and called the experience “one of my best business trips ever…” The German tuner was able to record the entire run, so be sure to check out the G-Power video!
