DMC SOVRANO 2011 Maserati GranTurismo Tuning Exposed

Italian automotive passion.

German luxury tuning company, DMC Exotic Car Tuning Limited, has developed a new Maserati GranTurismo tuning program that transforms the Italian coupe into a hardcore sports car for the automotive enthusiast.

The program is appropriately named SOVRANO, meaning supreme ruler or king in Italian, and this is one car that takes supreme control of the road. DMC has designed and produced a new, aggressive body kit that mirrors the fierce Maserati V-8 under the hood. The entire aerodynamic body kit is made from lightweight carbon fiber manufactured using a high-tech autoclave prepreg vacuum process to ensure the utmost quality. The front stares ahead with a new bumper and integrated lip spoiler that increases downforce at the front axle. The 4.7-liter exhales through a new lightweight hood with air intakes and outlets. Each side of the GranTurismo is enhanced with a set of widebody skirts with Zig-Zag end panels. To improve aerodynamics at the rear, DMC has fitted a new trunk spoiler and large rear diffuser.

Finishing off the exterior upgrades are a new set of wheels and a more athletic suspension. DMC has fitted new forged mesh wheels in a concave design that measure 20 inches with 255/30 tires at the front, and 21 inches at the rear with 305/30 tires. The concave wheel design provides the DMC SOVRANO GranTurismo with a muscular stance compared to traditional wheel designs. Upon request, DMC can color-match the wheels to the exterior paint and contrasting black accents. The new stance is completed with a progressive sport suspension that lowers the Maserati by approximately 30 mm for an improved center of gravity.

DMC tuning has recently teamed up with a new motor-engineering partner in Switzerland and one of the first cars that they worked their magic on was the Maserati GranTurismo. The Maserati 4.7-liter V-8 that has that oh-so-sexy exhaust note has been upgraded with a new cogged-tooth belt driven supercharger system that increases power by 150 horses and 61 lb-ft (82 Nm), for a total of 590 horsepower at 7,300 RPM and 348 lb-ft. (472 Nm) of torque at 5,400 RPM.

The transformation wouldn’t be complete without a refined interior. The cockpit is fitted with new durable yet soft leather, alcantara, and chequred stitching for a luxurious and sporty feel. Carbon fiber is used throughout the dashboard, doors, and steering wheel trims, reinforcing the exciting power of the supercharged engine. The overall driving experience is enhanced with a set of aluminum pedals and ergonomically shaped sports steering wheel.

The new DMC SOVRANO Maserati GranTurismo tuning program is currently available from the German luxury tuner. Pricing has not been released.
