Thanks for your comment Alain. Archimeed is very interesting! A few weeks ago, I did a write up for another blog initiative (WatchUseek) on Archimede and was really surprised by them in terms of price/quality ratio.

We might do an article on Archimede here on Motoring Exposure as well.

Thanks Gerard. The Sinn is very interesting for the money, as you already said, a professional watch.

Archimede is definitely interesting as well, their price range is way below 1000 Dollar, except for the TOP 6498 Flieger watch I think.

The bulk of Archimede's collection is under $1000, with many being well under. A division of Ickler, and the “affordable” little brother to Limes (which are not terribly expensive either). I own an Archimede and a Limes, and they are two of my favorites.

Nice initiative! My attention was certainly drawn by the Sinn 656 being such a professional watch in this price range.

Less professional, however high German/Swiss quality as well, is the whole series of Archimede watches, which all fit into the ‘below $ 1,000.=’ limit.

Great article! The first two that come to my mind are Hamilton and Oris. While it's somewhat easy to find a Hamilton chrono auto (with ETAs) under $1,000, it can be a little more challenging to find an Oris. However, the Oris Big Crown Pointer date (non-chrono), which is a really beautiful watch to see in person, can be found well under $1,000 at a high discount. There are also some excellent Ball watches that list at just under $1,000, including the Fireman II series. The last one that I'd like to add is the Accutron Gemini chrono series (ETA 7750!!). While they list for over $1,000, you can find them for a couple hundred dollars less then $1,000.
