British class and German refinement.

British class and German refinement.

Startech, the Jaguar, Range Rover, and Land Rover tuning arm of Brabus, has recently unveiled their latest styling program for the Jaguar XJ. In stock form the British executive sedan oozes luxury and class, and those qualities are magnified by an OEM Startech styling kit for the Jaguar XJ.

When Ian Callum designed the new Jaguar XJ, his goal was to make the sedan “a thoroughly modern interpretation of the quintessential Jaguar,” with a streamlines silhouette and teardrop shape. The Startech Jaguar XJ emphasizes theses lines with subtle yet functional exterior bodywork.

The front of the Startech XJ features an aerodynamic front upgrade with enlarged air intakes to cool the engine and brakes, and integrated splitter to reduce lift. The front add-on also boasts two sets of LED daytime running lights that run parallel with the headlight LEDs for a uniform, safe design. Each side of the Jaguar XJ can be fitted with Startech fender elements behind each of the front wheels. The fenders have a ‘Startech’ logo and our outlets for the front wheels, and integrate into the sills along each side. The rear of the Startech Jaguar XJ was given a small trunk-mounted spoiler to reduce lift and a redesigned fascia with integrated diffuser and trapezoidal exhaust tips.

Startech has also fitted the Jaguar XJ with custom-designed wheels that match the sedan’s character. A set of 9.0J x 21 front and 10.5J x 21 rear Startech Monostar J Diamond Edition wheels were installed to create a powerful and athletic stance. The forged wheels boast a lower overall weight than the stock models and help to improve overall vehicle performance. The ten-spoke wheels wear mirror polished finish with titanium-look sections. For better grip and handling, Startech also equipped the lightweight forged wheels with 255/35 ZR 21 front and 295/30 ZR 21 rear high-performance tires.

Startech then focused on refining arguably one of the best interiors in the industry with an array of Mastik leather, alcantara, and electronics. The Startech Jaguar XJ show car was given a complete cream-colored Mastik leather upholstery interior with 5,000 meters of thread, leather flooring, and high-gloss black piano wood trim. One of the main features of the custom-tailored Jaguar XJ interior is the state-of-the-art multimedia system installed behind each of the front seats. The system features two electronically-deployed tables integrated into the front seats with Apple iPads and keyboards. The system also uses a hidden 20 MBit/S GSM modem and antenna to create a wireless hotspot and integrate all electronic devices. In addition to the modern electronic systems, Startech offers a wide range of custom accessories ranging from stainless steel scuff plates to color-matched floor mats.

The entire Startech Jaguar XJ styling program is currently available. The German tuner allows customers to personalize and configure their vehicle in a variety of colors, materials, trims, and equipment. Pricing for the entire package and individual accessories have not been released.

Exclusive, efficient, and eco-friendy.

Exclusive, efficient, and eco-friendy.

Brabus has been at the forefront of aftermarket companies in terms of eco-friendly performance. Their newest example of green power and unmatched exclusivity is the W 166 Mercedes-Benz M-Class. Instead of some high-horsepower, gas-guzzling conversion, Brabus has created an efficient, stylish, and luxurious 4×4 SUV.

The brand new W 166 generation M-Class from Mercedes-Benz is sleeker and more modern than its predecessor. Brabus has developed an OEM quality PUR-R-RIM plastics body kit to give the SUV a sportier appearance. The front bumper features a new Brabus ‘On Road’ spoiler and air intake attachments. Each side of the Brabus ML wears new side skirts with entrance lights underneath the body that light up by using the keyless remote or by pulling the door handle. The keyless remote can also turn on the Brabus fender and sill logos. At the rear of the ML sits a new rear spoiler atop the liftgate and two different kinds of Brabus ‘On Road’ fascias depending on the engine choice.

The exterior of the W 166 was then finished off with a new set of wheels. Brabus offers cast Monoblock wheels in VI, E, and Q designs with diameters ranging from 18 to 22 inches. The biggest wheels offered are massive 10J x 22 inch size. In addition to the lineup of cast wheels, customers can also order forged Brabus Monoblock G “Platinum Edition” wheels in the same 10J x 22 size. To go along with the upgraded fitment, Brabus offers Continental, Pirelli, or Yokohama tires in 295/30 ZR 22 size.

The Brabus ML can be outfitted with the latest suspension and brake upgrades for better performance. Those equipped with the conventional suspension can be given an upgrade developed alongside Bilstein that lowers the ride height by 30 mm (1.2 inches). For M-Classes equipped with the stock air suspension, Brabus can install a module that lowers the ride height by 30 to 40 mm. In addition to the suspension, the brakes can be upgraded with fade-resistant, high-performance units. The upgraded system features six-piston aluminum calipers and 405 x 34 mm cross-drilled discs at the front, and four-piston calipers with 380 x 28 mm discs at the rear.

The focus for Brabus with the Mercedes-Benz M-Class was the ML350 BlueTEC 4MATIC and its V-6 diesel engine. Brabus developed a PowerXtra DS6 plug-and-play module for the 3.0-liter V-6 engine that keeps emissions under the same EURO IV class as the stock model. With the PowerXtra DS6 module, the W 166 Brabus ML gets a power boost to 306 horsepower at 3,600 RPM and 509 lb-ft. of torque from 1,600 to 2,400 RPM. This added power helps the 4×4 SUV accelerate to 62 mph in six seconds flat and reach a top speed of 142 mph (229 km/h).

As with all Brabus tuning programs the interior can be transformed with fine leather, special wood and custom stitching. New accessories such as matte-anodized aluminum pedals and door pins, stainless steel scuff plated with illuminated Brabus logos, and new foot rests can be installed. Customers can design their interior with Masktik leather, alcantara, fine wood, carbon trims, and new surface finishes.

The Brabus Mercedes ML W 166 tuning program is currently available as a complete car or individual accessories. Currently, the German tuner is developing upgrades for the other engines offered in the M-Class. Pricing has not been released.

Getting ready for winter.

Getting ready for winter.

Normally when drivers get ready for winter’s harsh cold and snow they put their nice cars in storage. Not at Brabus. In Bottrop, Germany, the tuner is getting ready for winter with a new upgrade program for the S and CL500 4Matic models that offer even more performance and style than ever.

For both luxury models equipped with the new Mercedes-Benz 4.7-liter V-8, Brabus offers two different tuning programs. The first uses the Brabus PowerXtra B50-490 plug-and-play module to recalibrate the engine’s ignition, injection, and electronic boost pressure. This results in 490 horsepower and 575 lb-ft. of torque, up from the stock 435 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque.

The second tuning option for the 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 is the Brabus B50-520. The upgrade includes the Brabus PowerXtra plug-and-play module and a new intercooler to increase output to 520 horsepower at 5,250 RPM and 604 lb-ft. of torque from 1,800 RPM to 3,500 RPM. This enables the CL500 4Matic to accelerate to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h) when equipped with the Brabus Vmax unit and 220 mph speedometer. In addition to each of the tuning packages for the CL and S500 models, Brabus also offers a stainless steel sport exhaust system with adjustable valves and quad tailpipes.

Along with the added performance from the Brabus Mercedes upgrade packages, new wheels, suspension, and brake upgrades are available to make the two luxury models complete performers. The featured wheels are the Monobloc F cross-spoke design wheels from the “Platinum Edition” range. The wheels measure 9J x 21 all around and wear 265/30 ZR 21 Continental, Pirelli, or YOKOHAMA tires. Brabus also offers 19 or 20-inch Monobloc F wheels for winter with four coats of Liquid Titanium paint for durability. Behind the wheels, customers can order a number of high-performance braking systems. The most potent system is the Version IV with 405 x 35 mm vented and cross-drilled discs and six-piston calipers at the front, and 380 x 34 mm discs with four-piston calipers at the rear. An ABC suspension system lowering module can be installed on both vehicles to reduce the overall ride height by up to 25 mm.

The Brabus CL has a number of wind tunnel-tested aerodynamic options for models not equipped with AMG body work. The front features a new spoiler to reduce lift at higher speeds, while each side wears new skirts complete with air vents and LED entrance lighting. At the rear, Brabus can install a subtle trunk spoiler and new bumper with reflector and exhaust cutouts.

Being top-line luxury models, the S500 and CL500 can be complemented with a range of custom interior accessories. The upholstery department at Brabus can install Mastik leather and alcantara in any color with unique stitching designs. The stock trim can be replaced with special wood or carbon fiber in an array of colors and shades to contrast the upholstery. Customers can also choose to add a number of accessories such as illuminated sills, multimedia systems, steering wheels, and aluminum pedals.

The complete range for both the Mercedes-Benz CL500 and S500 is currently available from Brabus. The kits can be purchased as whole or as individual upgrades to create a custom-tailored Mercedes. Pricing has not been released.

Sport Luxury Konvertible.

Sport Luxury Konvertible.

For the 2011 model year, Mercedes-Benz introduced the new R172 SLK-Class with updated technology, efficient engines, and an updated corporate face derived from the SLS AMG. The Mercedes-Benz specialists at Brabus have introduced their newest tuning program that improves all aspects of the roadster.

Compared to the previous generation, the SLK wears bolder styling and a more aggressive fascia. But, for some, the small two-seat roadster from Mercedes still bears that stigma of being “feminine”. Brabus has changed that image with a bit of testosterone in the form of a new aerodynamic body kit. The front wears new spoiler lips that fit on the production bumper to reduce lift and flashy bezels for the LED daytime running lights. Each side of the SLK wears new sills that emphasize the width of the production rear fenders. The rear features a subtle but functional trunk spoiler and a diffuser perfectly integrated into the production bumper.

Brabus has also taken steps to ensure that the SLK is more athletic. Brabus offers its one- or multi-piece Monoblock wheels in various designs ranging from 17 to 20 inches in diameter. The featured wheel is the Brabus Monoblock F finished in the new “Liquid Titanium” paint. The wheels measure 8.5 J x 20 at the front and 9.5 J x 20 at the rear with 235/30 ZR20 and 275/25 ZR 20 Continental, Pirelli, or YOKOHAMA tires. To match the larger wheels, Brabus designed a special sport spring upgrade that works with the production shocks to lower the SLK by 30 mm (1.2 in.) for sharper handling. In addition, customers can also order Brabus brake system upgrades.

Under the hood Brabus has given the “feminine” SLK a bigger set of testicles that boost the roadster’s performance. The Brabus ECO PowerXtra CGI plug-and-play tuning modules are available for both of the 1.8-liter direct injection engines. Each module can be installed in less than an hour at any Mercedes-Benz dealer and comes with a 3 year/62,000 mile warranty. The kits only activate when the engine is at optimal running condition to prevent excessive wear. In the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY, the ECO PowerXtra B20 CGI produces an additional 25 bhp and 22 lb-ft. of torque.

For the SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY, Brabus offers the ECO PowerXtra B25 CGI that bumps power up to 226 bhp at 5,500 RPM. Ten extra horsepower can be gained in the SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY with the installation of a larger intercooler and electronically controlled Brabus Mercedes wastegate for a total of 236 bhp. This helps the R172 SLK accelerate to 62 mph in just 6.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 154 mph. For all engine variants, Brabus offers a four-pipe stainless steel sport exhaust system.

Inside, it’s not as girly as the SLK once was. The Teutonic interior styling has been upgraded with polished stainless steel scuff plates with Brabus logos, aluminum foot pedals, and an aluminum shifter. Customers can also order custom interior designs with Brabus Mastik leather and alcantara with unique stitching options.

The Brabus Mercedes-Benz R172 SLK Sport Program gives the roadster some chest hair and a more masculine appeal than the stock model. Pricing has not been released and customers can order the program as an entire package or as individual accessories.

Taking AMG a step further.

Taking AMG a step further.

The Mercedes-Benz experts over at Brabus have designed and unveiled a new set of aerodynamic bodywork for both E- and S-Class models along with their AMG variants. The new aerodynamics gives the luxury sedans a more exclusive look while improving high speed stability. To give each model that true Brabus AMG sound, the German tuner has also developed new exhaust systems for the 6.2-liter and 5.5-liter V-8s.

All of the new components have undergone a thorough design and testing process. Each component was developed using a wind tunnel to ensure downforce can be generated at high speeds. The aerodynamic components are made from either lightweight carbon fiber or PU-RIM plastic to guarantee quality.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class can be configured with an AMG body styling package from the factory to give the sedan or wagon that extra exclusivity without forking over AMG-model money. These models can be further upgraded with the Brabus Mercedes aerodynamic enhancement kit. The kit consists of a front spoiler lip, a rear diffuser, and trunk-mounted rear spoiler. The diffuser also features two cutouts on either side to make room for the stock exhaust or optional Brabus quad sport exhaust system.

Just like the E-Class, the S-Class can be ordered with an AMG styling package from the factory. The Brabus aerodynamic kit is also made from quality PU-RIM in either body-colored paint or a glossy titanium paint finish. Downforce is generated at the front axle by a spoiler, while the rear is stabilized at high speeds by a trunk spoiler and apron diffuser with centrally-located reflector.

Then there’s the E63 AMG; the bad boy of the E-Class lineup wielding a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 hammer. Both the E63 AMG sedan and wagon can be outfitted with a carbon fiber front spoiler lip that fits directly to the stock bumper and custom front apron air ducts. The rear also sports a pair of carbon fiber goodies, with a new spoiler and diffuser generating extra downforce. To top the entire package off, the 6.2-liter’s voice can be unleashed with a Brabus stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with ceramic-coated tips. The exhaust system features an integrated flap system that allows drivers to choose between a subdued exhaust note and an unrestrained roar with the touch of a button.

The Mercedes S63 AMG also receives the same special Brabus treatment with new carbon fiber bodywork and an unadulterated exhaust. The same special carbon fiber was used for the front spoiler that fits directly on the stock bumper, the trunk-mounted spoiler lip, and rear diffuser. For the twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8, Brabus also offers a stainless-steel exhaust system with cast aluminum ceramic-coated tailpipes and integrated flap system that can be controlled via steering wheel.

Each of the E- and S-Class models can be outfitted in muscular fenders that surround custom Brabus monoblock with diameters of up to 20-inches. Both the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 and 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 can be tuned by Brabus for more power and quicker acceleration. In addition to the exterior and engine upgrades, Brabus will outfit both models with custom-tailored interiors in carbon fiber and wood trims, and soft leather or alcantara.

The Brabus Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class upgrades are currently available from the German tuning company. Pricing has not been released. Components can be ordered as a package or as individual accessories.

Brabus builds the fastest and most powerful four-seat convertible in the world.

Brabus builds the fastest and most powerful four-seat convertible in the world.

Brabus has a habit of stuffing monstrous V-12s into unsuspecting Mercedes-Benz vehicles. In the past few years the German tuning powerhouse has fitted their V-12s into the S-Class, GLK-Class, G-Class, E-Class. The current-generation of Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212 has been one of the biggest receivers of the V-12 transplant with the sedan and coupe variants. Now, Brabus has taken the four-seat cabriolet model and given it an outrageous transformation.

The formula for success stays the same for the rest of the E V12 models. Take the 5.5-liter V-12 from the S 600, increase the cylinder bore to a 6.3-liter displacement, add larger pistons and a new crankshaft with a longer stroke, add optimized cylinder heads and sport camshafts, subtract the stock transmission and replace it with a reinforced five-speed automatic, then press the throttle to result in the world’s most powerful four-seat convertible! Well, maybe it’s not that easy, but the engineers at Brabus were familiar with the conversion after building them for the sedan and coupe E-Class variants.

The Brabus EV12 Cabriolet does receive a few special engine upgrades. A new stainless steel high performance exhaust system was designed specifically for the drop-top E-Class. The intake is also exclusive, and has been redesigned with a new intake manifold and integrated carbon fiber ram-air hood scoop to suck in cool air. The 6.3-liter is fitted with two redesigned exhaust manifolds and larger turbochargers for even more boost pressure. To handle the intense amount of heat created, four water-to-air intercoolers have been installed. The entire system works in harmony thanks to a reprogrammed engine management system.

The total output of the engine is nothing short of mind-boggling. A total of 800 horsepower (788 bhp) at 5,500 RPM and 811 lb-ft. of torque is furiously sent to the rear wheels. The engine is capable of 1,047 lb-ft. of torque, but had to be electronically limited for reliability reasons. Helping put all the power to the road is a limited-slip differential with 40-percent locking rate. The 6.3-liter V-12 can propel the E V12 Cabriolet to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds, 124 mph in 9.9 seconds, and 186 mph in just 23.9 seconds. Depending on the final drive ratio, a top speed of 231 mph (370 km/h) can be reached.

Putting all 800 horsepower to the road without constantly spinning the tires is a challenge. Brabus has fitted 19-inch five double-spoke wheels that measure 9.5 inches wide up front and 10-inches wide at the rear. The multi-piece wheels wear special 265/30 ZR 19 front and 295/30 ZR 19 rear tires made by Yokohama, Pirelli, or Continental. To handle the added power and engine weight, the front and rear suspension was given custom-designed components and the entire chassis received a Brabus coil-over system developed alongside Bilstein. A number of personal settings can be activated with adjustable bound and rebound settings along with a 35 mm adjustable height. Behind the wheels lies a Brabus high performance brake system. The front axle wears 380 x 37 mm ventilated and grooved steel discs with 12-piston (yes you read that right) aluminum fixed calipers, while the rear utilizes 360 x 28 mm discs and six-piston calipers for unrelenting stopping power.

All this power isn’t packed into a sleek and unassuming wrapper. The aerodynamically-optimized exterior is equally as extravagant as what’s hidden beneath the hood. All of the new bodywork was thoroughly tested in a wind tunnel to ensure to ensure high speed stability. The front is fitted with a new apron that reduces front axle lift and redirects cool air directly to the engine and brakes, while air outlets along each side help dissipate heat. Integrated LED daytime running lights give the E V12 a meaner, more ferocious face. Both the front and rear fenders have been widened, with the rear axle gaining 60 mm (2.4 in.). The rear sports a new spoiler that helps to generate downforce at high speeds and keeps the convertible planted to the tarmac.

The interior is both sporty and indulgent. Facing the driver is a Brabus ergonomic steering wheel and a 400 km/h (250 mph) speedometer. Carbon fiber inlays adorn the dashboard and center console. The first car of the production run (pictured) also features lipstick red and black leather, with subtle “V12” logos stitched in the headrests.

The new Brabus E V12 Cabriolet is quite possibly one of, if not the, best convertible models of 2011. It has the heart of a monster, a sinister face, and an extravagant interior. Not to mention it’s also the most powerful and fastest four-seat convertible in the world. What else can seat four and hit 231 mph? Brabus will only produce a limited number of the E V12s, with prices starting at € 478,000 (+/- 667,500 USD).

Twin-turbo V-8 POWER.

In the quest for a greener future, Mercedes-Benz has recently introduced a pair of new V-8 engines for the S-Class and CL-Class models, and their AMG variants. A new 5.5-liter V-8 replaces the renowned 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8s used in the AMG models, while a new 4.7-liter V-8 replaces the naturally aspirated 5.5-liters used in the CL500 and S500. Both engines are smaller than the units they replace and utilize two-turbochargers to effectively boost performance while increasing efficiency.

Although the main goal for Mercedes was to increase efficiency with these new engines, Brabus believed that they packed a great deal of tuning potential. The German tuner has a history of producing vehicles that meet or exceed current fuel economy and emissions standards, so it was only a matter of time before the two engines were modified by Brabus engineers. In total, Brabus has developed four different programs (two for each engine), along with a host of aerodynamic and drivability upgrades for the S63 AMG.

Brabus B50 – 490 PowerXtra CGI:
The Brabus B50 – 490 PowerXtra CGI is a plug-and-play tuning module developed specifically for the twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V-8 that comes standard in the S500 and CL500 models. The device is available for € 4,900 (+/-7,000 USD), and brings power output from the stock 435 hp (429 bhp) to 490 hp (482 bhp) and 575 lb-ft. of torque.

Brabus B50 – 520 PowerXtra CGI:
The Brabus B50 – 520 PowerXtra CGI is an even more potent power upgrade for the 4.7-liter V-8 in both S500 and CL500 models. The kit includes a plug-and-play device and a supplementary intercooler, increasing power to 520 hp (512 bhp) and 604 lb-ft. of torque. The kit pushes the top speed for both the CL500 and S500 to 188 mph with the Brabus V/Max unit. The entire B50 – 520 PowerXtra CGI is available for € 5,900 (+/-8,600 USD).

Brabus B63 – 584 PowerXtra CGI:
For the S63 AMG and CL63 AMG models without the Mercedes-Benz performance package, Brabus has developed a B63 – 584 powerkit. The kit consists of a plug-and-play unit and water-to-air intercooler driven by an electric auxiliary pump to lower the charge air temperature. The result is an increase of 40 hp (39 bhp) for a total of 584 hp. The B63 – 584 PowerXtra CGI is priced at € 5,900 (+/-8,600 USD).

Brabus B63 – 620 PowerXtra CGI:
The Brabus B63 – 620 PowerXtra CGI was developed for the S63 AMG and CL63 AMG models equipped with the optional Mercedes-Benz performance package. Power rises from the stock 563 hp and 664 lb-ft. to an impressive 620 hp (610 bhp) at 5,500 RPM and 737 lb-ft. of torque from 2,250 to 3,750 RPM. With the new B63 – 620, the 0-62 mph sprint for both AMG models drops to just 4.3 seconds, while the top speed is increased to 200 mph (with Brabus V/max). The complete upgrade is also available for € 5,900 (+/-8,600 USD).

Brabus also offers a host of additional upgrades for S63 AMG owners that aren’t satisfied with just one of the tuning upgrades. A stainless-steel adjustable exhaust with steering wheel-mounted controls is available for the 5.5-liter V-8, and gives drivers the ability to switch between a quiet “coming home” mode or vocal “sport” mode. For better grip, monoblock alloy wheels can be fitted with sizes ranging from 19-21 inches in diameter with Pirelli or Yokohama high-performance tires. In addition, a limited-slip differential with a 40 percent locking rate can also be installed.

Brabus also went to the wind tunnel with the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG. A bodykit made of exposed carbon fiber can be fitted to the potent S-Class, and features a front spoiler, carbon fiber gille moldings, aluminum sport fenders, carbon fiber rear diffuser, and carbon fiber rear spoiler to reduce lift and improve high-speed stability.

As always, Brabus will custom tailor the interior of the S63 in a variety or leather, alcantara, and trims.

All of the Brabus powerkits for the Mercedes-Benz S500, CL500, S63 AMG, and CL63 AMG models are currently available. Pricing for the individual S63 AMG aerodynamic and interior upgrades have not been released.

The 800-horsepower off-road brick.

The 800-horsepower off-road brick.

At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Brabus unveiled a G-Class that packed 700 horsepower and a twin-turbocharged V-12 from the Mercedes Benz S600. Although 700 horsepower may seem like overkill (especially in an off-road SUV that took design inspiration from a box) it can be considered tame compared to the new Brabus 800 Widestar G-Class. This time it packs 800 horses and a 4.7-inch wider body. Talk about one-upping yourself.

The new Brabus 800 Widestar is an example of pure power. It doesn’t just look fast, ostentatious, and muscular, it has the strength to back it up. The basis of this horsepower monster is the twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-12 from the Mercedes-Benz S 600. The displacement is then increased to 6.3 liters with a larger cylinder bore, new crankshaft with longer stroke, and larger pistons. Then, the cylinder heads are optimized for mixture flow and new camshafts are installed. The in-house Brabus 800 bi-turbo system is fitted with two high-performance turbochargers, special manifolds with integrated turbine housings, and four water-to-air intercoolers. Backpressure is almost non-existent after the stainless-steel exhaust with free-flow metal catalytic converters and dual side exhausts is installed, further reducing turbo-lag. With the new engine fitted, the electronics are all retuned for optimum power and low emissions.

The end result of the Frankenstein engine conversion is an astonishing 800 horsepower (788 bhp) at 5,500 RPM, and 1,047 lb-ft. of torque at 2,100 RPM. Because of the incredible amount of power, the torque is electronically-limited to 811 lb-ft. In order to handle the brute force, a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission was required. The four-wheel-drive monster is capable of a 4.0-second 0-62 mph sprint and 168 mph top speed. However, due to safety concerns the top speed is limited to 149 mph. After all, it’s still a box.

So how exactly do you make a box look more muscular? Add the Brabus Widestar wide-body of course! Brabus has added their new wide-body kit with fender flares that add a total of 4.7 inches to the width of the G-Class. Both wheel arches are seamlessly connected by restyled door moldings, and are highlighted by stainless-steel running boards with LED lighting. The new front apron does triple duty as it sends cool air to the engine and front brakes, reduces lift at the front axle, and turns night into day with six headlights and LED daytime running lights. At the rear, a new bumper with underride guard is fitted with a fog light and backup light on both sides. Improving downforce at the rear is a new roof mounted spoiler with integrated brake light.

Filling those gaping wheel wells is a set of gigantic wheels and tires. Customers can order two different forged wheels; one-piece Monoblock F “Platinum Edition” or three-piece Monoblock E evo “Platinum Edition” wheels ranging from 20 to 23 inches in size. The featured size is a massive 11J x 23 front and back set with 305/35 R23 high-performance Pirelli or Yokohama tires. While the wheel/tire combo provides improved grip, a new Brabus Ride Control smooth-ride suspension developed with Bilstein provides electronically adjustable handling. Two modes are available: a comfort mode for everyday driving and a firmer mode for enthusiastic driving. The system can also automatically adjust damper stiffness for safety. If the system detects that the current driving style may lead to safety issues, the suspension becomes firmer to maintain stability. Further improving safety and performance is the new Brabus high-performance brake system. The system features six-piston calipers with 15-inch ventilated discs at the front and four-piston, 13.6-inch discs at the rear for even greater stopping power.

The entire interior of the Brabus 800 Widestar is completely customizable. Facing the driver is an ergonomically-designed steering wheel and 182 mph speedometer, while stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated Brabus logos greet passengers. Customers can tailor their G-Class with an array of custom-tailored Mastik leather and Alcantara, contrasted by wood trim. In addition, Brabus can also furnish the wood trim in an exclusive yachting design.

The Brabus 800 Widestar Mercedes-Benz G-Class is currently available from Brabus. Pricing for the entire package has not been released.

This Gullwing can really fly!

This Gullwing can really fly!

Brabus is one of the largest tuning companies in the world, and also one of the premier tuning companies for Mercedes-Benz. So when Mercedes introduced the SLS AMG as the next generation Gullwing, Brabus was quick to develop tuning programs and products to take the supercar to the next level of performance and style. At first it began with subtle performance products and aerodynamics. Then the German-based tuner introduced their Widestar bodykit that increased rear track of the SLS AMG. Now Brabus has come full circle with their newest 700-horsepower turbocharger upgrade for the mighty Gullwing.

The newest performance tuning program for the SLS AMG has been completely designed and engineered by Brabus. The new twin-turbocharger system for the SLS is not your average forced-induction system. Normally, for V-shaped engines, tuners and manufacturers use two right-turning turbochargers. This design can lead to a slower throttle response. So, Brabus engineers developed a left-turning turbocharger for the left cylinder bank, while the right-turning turbocharger was used for the right, thus optimizing gas flow and improving throttle response. The B63 bi-turbo system also uses air diverter valves and redesigned high-performance exhaust manifolds for greater efficiency and responsiveness. To cool the air being sucked in through high-performance air intakes, Brabus has fitted a large intercooler system with two water-to-air heat exchangers. All components work together with a reprogrammed engine management system with integrated electronic boost control, and meets Euro V emissions standards. The B63 bi-turbo system also includes a quad-tailpipe titanium exhaust system that weighs 26 lbs. less than the stock system and includes a hydraulic flap to control the volume of the exhaust note. Altogether, the B63 bi-turbo engine upgrade pushes the stock 563 horsepower and 480 lb-ft. to 700 horsepower (690 bhp) at 6,600 RPM and 626 lb-ft. (850 Nm) at just 4,300 RPM. This added power launches the Brabus 700 Biturbo to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds, 124 mph in 10.2 seconds, and to a top speed of 213 mph (340 km/h).

The new 700 Biturbo is a culmination of all of the technology Brabus has developed for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which is why the German tuner chose to showcase their Widestar bodykit. The kit adds widebody flares to the rear axle, increasing the track by 0.8 inches (20 mm) for better driving dynamics. The entire kit was designed in a wind tunnel for optimum aerodynamics and is made of lightweight and durable carbon fiber. The front features a carbon fiber spoiler and two air inlet covers for a more aggressive face. Along both sides are skirts that optimize airflow, and illuminated Brabus gills. The rear sports a spoiler lip and diffuser for added downforce, while the apron uses two air outlets for improved airflow.

The Brabus 700 Biturbo SLS AMG is not just about straight-line speed. The company also paid attention to upgrading the suspension, wheels, and tires. New Bilstein suspension components were added and allow for the ride height to be lowered by 1.2 inches (30 mm) and stiffness to be adjusted with the use of an integrated “Ride Control” function. The suspension can also be ordered with the Brabus front-end lift system that raises the front by 2.0 inches (50 mm) for extra clearance. Brabus has also installed front and rear stabilizers to reduce body roll and provide precise handling. In addition, new lightweight forged Monoblock F “Platinum Edition” wheels have been installed in a staggered 9.5J x 20 front and 11J x 21 rear fitment, and weigh 12 percent less than the stock wheels. Customers can order the wheels in a ceramic-polished or chrome with brushed design surface finish or they can opt for a custom paint color. For even more grip, new 275/30 ZR 20 front and 295/25 ZR 21 rear Pirelli or Yokohama tires are fitted.

Inside, Brabus offers a wide range of leather and alcantara in any color, matched to a range of matte or polished carbon fiber trim. At the heart of the cockpit are an ergonomically-designed steering wheel and a 250-mph (400 km/h) speedometer. Matte anodized aluminum pedals and foot rest hint at the sporty character of the Brabus 700 Biturbo. The Brabus upholstery department will completely customize the interior to customer specification.

The Brabus 700 Biturbo program for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is currently available. Prices have not been released.
