Powered by Godzilla.

The Nissan Juke R is one of those crazy, head-scratching conversions that have you dumbfounded until you drive it. The little crossover from Nissan is powered by the same drivetrain as the GT-R. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6 engine produces about 485 horsepower and 433 lb-ft. of torque, sending the Juke R to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

Nissan claims that the Juke R is the fastest crossover in the world and to prove it, they brought it to Dubai where it took on the Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4, and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The Nissan Juke R video is a bit grainy, but shows just how incredibly fast the car is. Right off the bat the Juke R claims the lead while the other three struggle to keep up. Now, we’re not sure if this is just marketing for Nissan as nothing has been said about how competitive the race was. One thing is for certain – the Juke R is one fast little monster!

Officially, the Nissan Juke R can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 mph.

This Dodge packs a venomous sting.

This Dodge packs a venomous sting.

At the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show Dodge will be unveiling their new Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket. The special edition muscle car recalls the famous 1970“Yellow Jacket” Challenger show car that wore pearlescent Honey Gold paint and was packed with all sorts of performance and aesthetic goodies along with a 426-cubic inch HEMI V-8.

“The Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket adds another piece of performance car nostalgia to our rear-drive muscle coupe lineup in 2012,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO – SRT Brand and Motorsports. “The Stinger Yellow paint and interior accents speak directly to the performance enthusiast who appreciates a memorable and collectible color that helps deliver even more excitement and exclusivity.”

The new Yellow Jacket is a special edition based on the Challenger SRT8 model. The Dodge Challenger Yellow Jacket features Stinger Yellow exterior paint with contrasting black contour stripes and a black grille. The stripes are similar to those found on the Challenger R/T Classic package, but feature a black Yellow Jacket logo on the rear fender. All four wheels have been replaced with new five-spoke cast aluminum wheels with black pockets that measure 9 x 20 at the front and rear.

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket will also boast unique interior features in yellow and black. The standard seats were given special Stinger Yellow accent bands with embroidered Yellow Jacket logos and silver stitching. Facing the driver will be an SRT heated steering wheel with mounted paddle shifters for models equipped with an automatic transmission. Customers can also order an optional 18-speaker, 900-watt Harman Kardon sound system.

The standard engine found in the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 will be utilized in the Yellow Jacket edition. No performance upgrades have been made to the 6.4-liter engine and it will have an output of 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque while achieving 23 mpg highway. The Dodge Challenger Yellow Jacket will come standard with a two-mode adaptive damping system with selectable suspension tuning.

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket will be on display at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. A limited number of models will be produced with orders beginning in December of 2011. Dealership arrivals are scheduled for the first quarter of 2012.

Chevy celebrates the heritage of the Corvette.

Chevy celebrates the heritage of the Corvette.

The 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas promises to be an unforgettable event. On display are hundreds of cars with new tuning programs, aftermarket products, and new special edition models. This year, Chevrolet has brought a pair of Corvettes that celebrate the model’s heritage.

On display at the Chevy SEMA booth will be the new Carlisle Corvette Grand Sport. The Carlisle Blue Concept is a special model that celebrates the 30 years of the largest Corvette event in the world that is held annually at Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

The Blue Carlisle Corvette Concept is based off of the Grand Sport variant of the Corvette, using the standard dry-sump LS3 6.2-liter V-8 and six-speed manual transmission. In terms of performance, Chevrolet has given the Concept car an ultra-responsive Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension and a dual-mode exhaust. The entire car wears a light Carlisle Blue exterior paint with White racing stripes that extend across the entire body. New 18 x 10 front and 19 x 12 rear Silver Torque 2 wheels are worn along with a host of Genuine Corvette accessories. Inside the Chevy SEMA concept has been given Grand Sport floor mats and center console lid, along with an Ebony/Titanium color scheme and blue stitching.

Next to the Carlisle Corvette Grand Sport at the Chevy SEMA stand will be the “Hall of Fame” Ron Fellows Corvette Z06 Tribute car. Fellows, the legendary Corvette driver who raced on the Corvette Racing C5.R and C6.R teams, was inducted into the National Corvette Museum’s Hall of Fame in 2011.

The SEMA Corvette tribute to Ron Fellows is based on the Corvette Z06 with the Z07 performance package. The Ron Fellows Corvette was designed to look like a race car, sporting a carbon fiber raised hood, spoilers, rockers, and racing-style graphics that honor Fellows’ achievements. The set of wheels was given a black face with red outer stripe, and hides a red brake calipers. The interior features suede trimmed accessories from the Centennial Package, Centennial-model seats, and a set of Genuine Corvette Racing pedals.

Both the Corvette Carlisle Blue Grand Sport Concept and Ron Fellows “Hall of Fame” Tribute Corvette Z06 will be on display at the Chevrolet stand at SEMA from November 1st to the 4th. Production plans and pricing have not been announced by Chevrolet.

More sport and Luxury for the Lexus lineup.

More sport and luxury for the Lexus lineup.

Lexus has been known for their luxurious, reliable models since the brand came to the United States in 1989. One aspect that has been missing in their lineup is sport. With the introduction of the LFA and the F Sport performance line, the brand is injecting athleticism into the brand. To expand their exclusive offerings to customers, Lexus has introduced three new limited-production special editions for the 2012 model-year: the LS 560 Sport Special Edition; ES 350 Touring Edition; and CT 200h F Sport Special Edition.

“The Special Edition models will offer our customers choices to fit their luxury and sporty needs. With the unique and exclusive package offerings, the Special Edition models further demonstrate Lexus’ commitment to our customers,” said Mark Templin, Lexus Division Group Vice President and General Manager. “The LS, ES and CT Special Editions are unique packages of style and excitement. With limited units available nationwide, they’ll sell out fast to customers who want an all-inclusive sport and luxury package.”

The new LS 460 Sport Special Edition builds on the sport package that was available in the 2010 MY for the flagship sedan. The unique package is only available on the rear-wheel drive model and features interior, exterior, and performance upgrades. Inside, the LS 460 gains a two-tone black and topaz beige leather combo with contrasting stitching on the black leather, Lexus HDD navigation, and the comfort package. The exterior is available only in special Obsidian paint and wears a sport exterior trim and grille set. In terms of performance, the LS 460 gains 19-inch, split ten-spoke forged alloy wheels with summer tires, Brembo brakes, a sport tuned suspension, and Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS).

Often thought of as one of the uninspiring models in the Lexus line, the ES 350 Touring Edition adds a bit of excitement into the model range. The sedan will only be available in Stargazer Black or Starfire Pearl exterior colors, and come standard with 17-inch, ten spoke wheels (inc. full-size spare) in Liquid Graphite finish. The interior will play host to a number of luxury features such as a wood and leather trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, heated and ventilated front seats, Brown Walnut trim, and Saddle-tan leather trimmed seats, console, and arm rests. Navigation is provided by the latest Lexus HDD system.

The sportiest of the group is the CT 200h F Sport Special Edition. The upgrade will only be available to Premium models in Nebula Gray Pearl, Starfire Pearl, or Tungsteg Pearl exterior paint colors. An F Sport suspension system with new springs and anti-sway bars along with new F Sport 17-inch Liquid Silver alloy wheels provide additional performance. The interior features Ocean Blue NuLuxe trimmed seating, Black F Sport floor mats with blue stitching, and special TUMI tote and back pack with Ocean Blue NuLuxe zippers and lining. The CT 200h Special Edition will also come standard with the F Sport package which includes aerodynamic bodywork, and sporty interior accessories and trim. The Lexus Navigation Package and Premium Audio Package provide the finishing touches.

The new 2012 Lexus LS 460 Sport Special Edition will be priced at $77,000 and be limited to just 250 units starting in November. Lexus will produce 2,000 examples of the 2012 ES 350 Touring Edition for $40, 475, with the first models arriving at dealerships in November. The 2012 CT200h F Sport Special Edition is currently available for $37,995. Only 900 units of the CT 200h will be made available. Each special edition model comes with an $875 handling, processing, and delivery fee that is not reflected in the MSRP.

Racing with an advantage.

Racing with an advantage.

Porsche has unveiled their latest update for their popular 911 GT3 R racecar for the 2012 racing season. Although the new Porsche 991 911 model is out, the 911 GT3 R is still based on the successful 997.2 chassis. The updated racecar offers more horsepower, optimized transmission, and a tweaked suspension to keep it at the pole position.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 R uses a 4.0-liter flat-six engine with even more power than the 2010 and 2011 models, mated to a new six-speed transmission. Porsche added an extra 20 horses with a new optimized intake system, pushing the output to a total of 500 horsepower. The gearing of the six-speed transmission was adapted to cope with the extra power. Porsche also added a paddle shift system on the steering wheel to make the car easier to drive along with new transmission electronics such as an automatic throttle blip control.

The 911 GT3 R also comes with a few suspension upgrades to optimize handling. At the front axle, Porsche has installed a softer anti-roll bar that reduces understeer. The traction control and race-ABS electronic systems have been updated and make the GT3 R more forgiving.

Porsche will begin offering the new 2012 911 GT3 R in November of 2011 for € 304,500 (+/- 432,000 USD). Owners of the 2010 and 2011 911 GT3 R models can purchase an upgrade package for € 43,100 (+/- 61,000 USD). The 911 GT3 R is the middle-range racing model that sits above the 911 GT3 Cup, but under the GT2-spec 911 GT3 RSR.

Executive power.

Executive power.

At the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt, Audi will unveil the 2012 S8 alongside the new Audi S6 and Audi S7 models. The new Audi S8 is the king of all S-models from Audi, boasting the most powerful version of the 4.0 TFSI engine, sumptuous luxury, and superb driving dynamics.

The new 2012 Audi S8 will be powered by a more powerful version of the 4.0 TFSI engine used in the S6 and S7 models. In the S8, the 4.0 TFSI will produce 100 more horsepower than the S7 and S6, and still achieve first-rate economy. The 4.0 TFSI twin turbocharged V-8 produces an astonishing 520 horsepower and a plateau of 479.42 lb-ft. of torque from 1,700 to 5,500 RPM. Even though the 4.0 TFSI makes 70 more horsepower than the outgoing 5.2-liter V-10, consumption was decreased by 23 percent to an average of 23.06 US mpg thanks to new stop-start, regeneration, and Audi “cylinder on demand” systems. The power is sent to all four wheels through a new eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, sending the S8 to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds and to an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

The new eight-speed Tiptronic transmission gives the Audi S8 the perfect balance of sport and fuel economy. To save fuel, taller gears are used whenever possible to keep the engine at lower revolutions. The transmission can seamlessly shift out of the tall gears at the press of the throttle. The standard Quattro all-wheel drive system uses a self-locking center differential and rear sport differential to ensure all of the power of the 4.0 TFSI is transferred to the road.

Playing a large role in the athleticism of the large executive sedan is the Audi S8’s light chassis. The S8 was built using the ASF (Audi Space Frame) made almost entirely out of aluminum to bring the overall weight down to just 4,354 lbs; competitive with any BMW or Mercedes-Benz model. To ensure that the 2012 S8 remains composed, Audi has tuned the standard air suspension and equipped it with variable damping and height. New five double-spoke wheels measuring 9 J x 20 with 265/40 R 20 tires come standard along with 15.75 inch front and 14.37 inch rear internally ventilated brake discs. Customers have the option to upgrade with seven different wheel styles, four of which measure 21 inches in diameter, and carbon fiber ceramic brake discs that save 11 lbs. of weight.

The Audi S8 is big and bold, just like the top-of-the-line S-model should be. At the front the performance sedan wears a single-frame grille with eight chrome double bars, an aluminum-look front bumper blade, and high-gloss black slats with an aluminum-look finish in the side air intakes. Each side of the Audi S8 wears new side sills with body color trim strips, polished aluminum-look mirror housings, and “V8T” badges on the front fenders. At the rear is a new spoiler atop the trunk and bumper with integrated diffuser and quad exhaust tailpipes.

The interior of the 2012 Audi S8 is a combination of rich luxury and sport. Exclusive multi-way power seats can be optioned with Lunar Silver quilted inserts and come in a range of colors, soft Valcona leather, and contrasting stitching and piping. Greeting passengers are illuminated door sills bearing the “S8” logo and embossed “S8” logos on the seats. The logos can also be found on the leather steering wheel with contrasting stitching, bespoke gauges, MMI greeting screen, and analog clock. For a sense of sport, the shift paddles and pedals are finished in aluminum. Other high-tech options for the S8 include a new 360-degree camera system with four small exterior cameras, and a 19-speaker, 1,400-watt Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System.

The new 2012 Audi S8 will make it’s debut at the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt alongside the new Audi S6 and S7. The Audi S8 will arrive in dealerships in the spring of 2012 and be available in nine different colors including the exclusive Daytona Gray and Prism Silver. Pricing has not been released.

In the summer of 2010 Audi joined the ranks of Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, and others with the new A7 Sportback five-door coupe. The car was promising, offering practicality, sleek styling, and driver focused dynamics. Fast forward a year and the German automaker is prepping the new Audi S7 for a worldwide unveiling in Frankfurt at the 2011 IAA.

The 2012 Audi S7 is powered by the newest, state-of-the-art 4.0 TFSI V-8 engine. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 is the same unit as the one used in the new Audi S6 and Audi S8, and provides a significant boost in power over the A7’s 3.0T. In the S7, the 4.0 TFSI produces a whopping 420 horsepower and 405.66 lb-ft. of torque. This power, along with the standard seven-speed S tronic transmission, helps the Audi S7 accelerate to 62 mph in only 4.9 seconds. Unfortunately, the S7 is also electronically limited to 155 mph along with most of the high-performance models from German automakers. The 4.0 TFSI also comes standard with Audi’s “Cylinder on Demand” system that shuts down four cylinders for increased fuel economy, resulting in an average of 24.25 US mpg.

Contributing to the greater overall performance of the 2012 Audi S7 is its lightweight construction. The hybrid aluminum construction makes it approximately 15 percent lighter than its competition. The Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system features a self-locking center differential along with torque vectoring, adjustable air suspension, and Audi Drive Select to help the S7 tackle corners. Customers can option the Audi S7 with a rear sport differential to better distribute power. Standard on the performance five-door coupe are 19-inch wheels and internally ventilated brake discs with matte black calipers and the “S7” logo at the front. Optionally, customers can choose to fit carbon fiber ceramic brakes, 19- or 20-inch wheels, and dynamic steering with adjustable ratios.

Even though the Audi S7 is a new model, it still features the same design cues from the rest of the S-car lineup. The front features a single frame grille with aluminum accents and horizontal double chrome bars. Each side boasts signature “V8T” badges, new side sills, and brushed aluminum mirrors. At the rear, Audi has fitted a new spoiler, rear bumper with integrated diffuser, and quad oval tailpipes. Nine different colors are available, with Estoril Blue crystal effect and Prism Silver crystal effect being the most exclusive.

Audi continues to stay at the top of the automotive industry with the interior of the new S7. Pearl Nappa leather and Alcantara with quilted seat inserts is the standard upholstery on the height adjustable sport seats, with soft Milano Valcona material as an option. The “S” badges are worn throughout the interior, decorating the instrument panel, illuminated door sill trims, gearshifter, paddle shifters, MMI welcome display, and start stop button. Both the footrest and pedals are made from stainless steel, while the MMI soft keys wear an aluminum-look covering. Customers can choose from the standard brushed aluminum, carbon fiber, or natural fine grain ash wood trims, and Black, Lunar Silver, or Goa Beige for the seat upholstery colors.

The new 2012 Audi S7 Sportback will make its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show along with the 4.0 TFSI engine. The new Audi S7 will arrive in dealerships in the spring of 2012. Pricing has not been released.

Modern power.

Modern power.

It hasn’t been long since Audi introduced their fourth generation A6 model. As a matter of fact, they’re just starting to hit US shores. Now Audi has unveiled their all-new 2012 S6 models complete with a more powerful and efficient twin-turbocharged V-8 that replaces the 5.2-liter V-10 of yore.

The new Audi S6 sedan and S6 Avant bring forth the typical distinguishing design characteristics that we’ve come to expect and love from Audi. Each fender proudly wears a new “V8T” badge hinting at the power under the hood, and the “S6” badges appear in their usual positions along the trunk and front grille. The brushed aluminum side mirrors and chrome quad exhaust tips also make a return. Audi has changed things up a bit with a new front grille with aluminum applications and chromed double bars, and a chrome bumper strip. Both the sedan and Avant feature broader side sills and a new rear bumper with platinum gray diffuser and aluminum-look offset edge. Generating downforce on the sedan is a subtle trunk spoiler while the Avant gets a more aggressive roof spoiler.

Although the design is typical Audi and has considerably more presence, the real revolution in power lies under the hood. Audi’s new 4.0 TFSI twin-turbocharged V-8 boasts more power and greater fuel efficiency over the outgoing 5.2-liter V-10. Both the S6 sedan and Avant use a 420 horsepower variant of the 4.0 TFSI that erupts in a plateau of 405.66 lb-ft. of torque from 1,400 to 5,300 RPM. But the power doesn’t come with a penalty. Efficiency is up by as much as 25 percent as the outgoing S6 due to new recuperation and start-stop systems, a cylinder deactivation system, and a lightning fast seven-speed S tronic transmission. Under part load, four cylinders shut down to reduce consumption. During the shutdown engine bearings are used to counter vibration and an Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system is activated, playing antiphase sound to cancel out any unpleasant engine sounds. This helps the new Audi S6 achieve an average fuel consumption of 24.25 US mpg for the sedan and 24.0 US mpg for the Avant.

The new engine and quick-shifting transmission helps propel the S6 sedan and S6 Avant to new levels of performance. Accelerating to 62 mph takes only 4.8 seconds for the sedan and 4.9 seconds for the Avant. Both models are electronically governed to a 155 mph top speed.

Although one goal for the new S6 was to increase efficiency, the sport factor is more apparent than ever. The standard Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system comes equipped with torque vectoring and self-locking center differential. Optionally, customers can also order a sport differential to improve distribution of power to the rear wheels. The chassis is also lighter than the competition because of its 20 percent aluminum construction, brining the Audi S6 Avant in at 4,300 lbs. and the sedan in at 4,177 lbs. Standard on the S6 models are 8.5 J x 19 cast aluminum five-double spoke wheels with 255/40 R19 tires. Seven optional wheel designs, four of which are from Quattro GmbH, are available in 19- or 20-inch variants. Bringing the car to a halt are internally ventilated front and rear disc brakes with matte black calipers bearing the “S6” logo. Customers can also equip their S6 with optional carbon-fiber ceramic discs for unrelenting stopping power.

Inside Audi has taken steps to upgrade the interior with “S6” badging and exclusive upgrades. The “S6” logo adorns the keyfob, MMI display and driver information system, aluminum shift paddles, steering wheel, gauges, illuminated door sill trims, and seatbacks. Aluminum adorns the MMI display soft keys and pedals for a sportier appearance. The standard trim is matte brushed aluminum with carbon fiber, grain ash natural brown wood, or layered Beaufort Oak as options. Black, Lunar Silver, and Goa Beige nappa leather and alcantara colors for the seats are available with optional Milano and Valcona upholstery. As with all Audi S-models, sport seats with greater lumbar and lateral support come standard.

The Audi S6 and S6 Avant will hit dealer showrooms in the spring of 2012. Each variant will be available in eight different colors including Prism Silver and Estoril Blue in a crystal effect. Pricing has not been released.
