Smooth lines, soft curves, and ABT Power.

The Audi A5 has been a large success for the German automaker since it was introduced largely because of its smooth, curvy lines created by designer, Walter de’Silva. Currently, Audi is in the process of updating their entire lineup with minor facelifts to ensure all of the models wear a similar, modern face. One of those cars is the A5, which has received a few minor upgrades including new LED daytime running lights that drastically change the appearance of the car.

In keeping with the updated lineup, ABT Sportsline has unveiled the AS5, an upgrade program for the Audi A5. Similar to the ABT AS4, the new A5 program from ABT Sportsline complements the facelifted body with new wheels, suspension, and, of course, ABT Power.

“For us, it was important to combine this car’s extraordinary design with our ideas and thus to underscore the car’s character,” said Hans-Jürgen Abt. “Its increased performance and its body parts form a unit. If you look at the AS5, you want to take in every inch of its marvellous silhouette, and if you sit in it, all you want is to get it on the road. This coupé is really a power pack.“

One of the first things to be upgraded on the ABT AS5 was the engines. Both the 3.0-liter turbodiesel and 2.0T gasoline engines were tuned by ABT Sportsline to provide drivers with a thrilling ride that matches the redesigned looks. The 3.0-liter diesel engine’s standard 245 horsepower output grows to 300 horsepower after the ABT Sportsline tuning program. For the smaller 2.0T inline-four, output is raised from 211 horsepower to 270 horses. Each engine variant in the ABT AS5 can also be equipped with a new rear muffler with quad exhaust tips for a deeper sound.

The facelifted ABT AS5 sports special body work that gives the coupe a powerful appearance. Up front sits a new sport spoiler that helps improve downforce and complements the sharper LED lighting. Both fenders sport vent inserts to portray power along with new side skirts. The rear of the ABT AS5 rear features a trunk lip spoiler and apron insert with integrated exhaust tips.

The chassis of the Audi A5 was also tuned with the ABT AS5. New sport springs or coilovers can be installed to lower the overall center of gravity for a better stance and improved handling. ABT Sportsline offers 19- and 20-inch CR Silverlight or DR alloy wheels for the Audi A5. To finish things off, the ABT AS5 can be equipped with a powerful sport braking system that utilizes 345 or 380 mm discs to bring the car to a halt.

The ABT Sportsline Audi A5 upgrade program is currently available. Pricing for ABT AS5 upgrades has not been released and individual parts can be purchased separately.

Diesel domination.

One’s of Audi and Volkswagen’s strongest products are its diesel engines. This is true not only for their production cars, but in racing where most of the advanced technology is tested and proven. Audi’s successes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans can be attributed to their advanced diesel engines and their low consumption/high power outputs. One of the most powerful diesel engines offered by Volkswagen/Audi is the 4.2 TDI V-8.

MTM, the Audi and Volkswagen specialists in Germany have developed a 4.2 TDI tuning range for three different applications in the Audi A8, Q7, and Volkswagen Touareg. In stock form, the 4.2 TDI is capable of producing anywhere from 315 to 345 horsepower and up to 590 lb-ft. of torque depending on the vehicle application. MTM saw a great deal of potential hidden inside these common-rail direct injection diesel engines, and created three different 4.2 TDI tuning upgrades.

In the Audi A8 4.2 TDI, MTM offers a V-Cantronic program that can be installed by a technician in two hours. The V-Cantronic program keeps output at the standard 345 bhp, but removes the 155 mph (250 km/h) speed limited and pushes it back all the way to 175 mph (282 km/h).

In the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi A8, and Q7, MTM can install the M-Cantronic 4.2 TDI tuning program. The new program increases power to 410 bhp and 686 lb-ft. of torque. With the M-Cantronic upgrade, the top speed remains at the electronically-limited speed as determined by the manufacturer.

Customers that are looking for both speed and power with the 4.2 TDI can opt for a combination of M- and V-Cantronic from MTM. The upgrade removes the electronically-limited top speed and increases power to 410 bhp and 686 lb-ft. of torque.

In addition to the MTM 4.2 TDI tuning upgrades, the German company also provides a number of chassis, exterior, and interior upgrades for the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi A8, and Q7. The V-Cantronic is available for the Audi A8 for 1,400 Euros (+/- 1,800 USD), the M-Tronic is available for all cars for 1,800 Euros (+/- 2,300 USD), and the combination for 2,700 Euros (+/- 3,500 USD).

Celebrating 40 years of Audi with more power!

Back in 1972, Audi began producing a compact executive car called the Audi 80. Production for the small executive car spanned four generations until it was replaced by the Audi A4 in 1996. Since then, the A4 has been quite successful around the world. Now entering its 40th year of production, the German automaker has given the Audi A4 B8 a facelift with new LED lighting, revised styling, and updated technology.

ABT Sportsline is one of the companies that are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Audi 80/A4 range as it is one of the most popular cars to be upgraded and tuned. Their newest creation focuses on the recently facelifted Audi A4 B8 and increases performance in terms of power, handling, and aerodynamics.

“The A4 is an important car for us, too. It always re-defines the premium standard for medium-sized cars,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt. “Our AS4 is definitely state-of-the-art. It combines sportiness and assertiveness.”

With the new ABT AS4, the German tuner provides engine upgrades for the S4, diesel V-6, and 2.0 TFSI variants. The supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine used in the Audi S4 gets pushed from 333 horsepower to a whopping 435 horsepower with ABT engine technology. This helps the sedan reach 62 mph in just 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 175 mph. For the 3.0-liter V-6 TDI, output increases to 282 hp and 413 lb-ft. (560 Nm) of torque with ABT Sportsline tuning. The tried and true 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder in the Audi A4 B8 gets a boost from 211 hp to 275 hp with a little ABT Power magic. Each of the engine upgrade programs is endurance tested to ensure maximum reliability for the three engine choices.

In terms of aerodynamics, ABT Sportsline designed a number of exterior upgrades to improve downforce for high speed stability on the Audi A4 B8. After Audi’s mild exterior refresh, the A4 wore a sharper, modern fascia. With this as the starting point, ABT Sportsline designed a front spoiler with precise angles to match the stock styling and improve downforce. The ABT AS4 also features new side skirts that mirror the character line along each door and fender inserts that resemble vents. At the rear sits a new bumper insert that can accommodate the quad-exhaust system and a trunk spoiler to improve downforce at the rear axle.
All of the standard wheels and tires can also be replaced with the ABT AS4. Two choices of wheels are available from ABT Sportsline; the alloy CR Silverlight or alloy DR in 19- or 20-inch sizes. Each option also comes with high-speed sport tires for better grip and handling performance.

The full ABT AS4 upgrade package is currently available for all facelifted Audi A4 B8 models from ABT Sportsline.

The Audi A6 C6 was the German automaker’s midsize sedan that combined elements of sport with advanced all-wheel drive and luxury, and made its debut in 2004. In 2008, Audi released a facelifted version of the Audi A6 C6 that included modern LED lighting, new intakes, and updated engines.

JMS Tuning has unveiled a redesigned kit that gives the Audi a new face. For all A6 models excluding the S-Line, JMS designed a new front bumper. The revised bumper is noticeably more aggressive due to the protruding spoiler lip at the bottom that helps to reduce downforce. The addition of the new front spoiler also visually lowers the single-frame grille, giving the impression of power and muscle.

In order to back up the sportier looks of the facelifted Audi A6 C6, JMS Tuning installed a new wheel and suspension setup. The German tuner chose to stick with the “Euro” look by fitting mesh ASA AR1 RS race wheels in a 8.5 x 19 front and rear fitment. Each of the four ASA AR1 RS wheels were equipped with new 245/35/19 sport tires for better grip and performance. The Audi A6 C6 was also given a more agile suspension thanks to a new KW stainless steel coilover kit. The Version 1 kit lowers the overall ride height by 60 mm at the front and 50 mm at the rear for a better center of gravity.

All of the Audi A6 C6 upgrades are currently available from JMS Tuning. The redesigned front apron is available for € 239 (+/- 313 USD) and can fit on all non S-line models. The KW coilover kit can be purchased for € 1,099 (+/- 1,440 USD), and the wheel and tire package is available for € 1,999 (+/- 2,600 USD).

A 340 horsepower, turbocharged five-cylinder engine in a compact car is absolutely nutty. Crank that number up to 400 horses and over and you have yourself an insane performer. The folks at Sportec AG may border on the crazy side as they have just unveiled their new Audi RS3 tuning program that is capable of producing over 500 horsepower.

The Swiss tuner has managed to squeeze quite a bit of power from the potent 2.5-liter turbo engine in the RS3. Two different full-on Audi RS3 tuning programs are available with power outputs ranging from 408 hp and 406 lb-ft. of torque to over 500 hp. Both of the options utilize Sportec ECU upgrades, stainless steel exhaust system, and other upgrades to tap into the 2.5’s hidden potential.

In terms of drivability, Sportec installed a few chassis upgrades to make the compact even more of a canyon carver. A complete Bilstein coilover suspension was fitted and offers drivers the ability to adjust hardness and height from 20-40 mm. New lightweight, ten-spoke, 20-inch monoblock wheels were fitted with performance tires and come to a halt thanks to a Sportec modified MOVIT big brake system. The Audi RS3 tuning program also boasts a Sportec Haldex all-wheel drive upgrade. The upgrade allows drivers to alter the way the all-wheel drive system performs with the push of a button.

The Sportec Audi RS3 tuning program is currently available from the Swiss tuning company. The 500 horsepower version is only available as an export. Pricing has not been released.

This past summer, Audi unveiled a new A1 Clubsport Quattro Concept car for the annual Wörtherseetour in Austria. It sported a powerful turbocharged inline-five, minimalistic interior, and athletic chassis upgrades. The sporty A1 proved to be extremely popular as Audi has just released the A1 Quattro as the top-variant for the model range.

Although the new Audi A1 Quattro shares many similarities as the Clubsport Concept, the 2.5-liter engine was unfortunately replaced with the stalwart 2.0-liter TFSI. Of course, Audi has beefed up the output on the turbo-four, optimizing it for high-performance and low consumption. In the A1 Quattro, the 2.0 TFSI produces 256 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 258.15 lb-ft. of torque from 2,500 RPM to 4,500 RPM all while achieving a respectable 27.67 US mpg.

All 256 ponies are sent to the wheels through the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system and six-speed manual transmission. The brain behind the system is a hydraulically-actuated multi-plate clutch that sends most of the power to the front wheels. If the front wheels begin to lose traction, the system can instantaneously send torque to the rear wheels. A special electronic differential lock (EDL) activates the brakes should a single wheel on the front or rear axle slip.

The potent turbocharged engine mated to an advanced all-wheel drive system can propel the Audi A1 Quattro to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds. Top speed for the three-door hatch is 152.24 mph.

The entire suspension and chassis was designed to be more precise than the standard A1 models. The front features a McPherson design while the rear sports a four-link axle. All four corners of the A1 Quattro wear Glacier White, turbine design 8.0 J x 18 cast alloy wheels with 225/35 performance tires. Behind each wheel sits a 312 mm brake disc clenched by black calipers.

The new Audi A1 Quattro wears a similar design to that of the Clubsport Quattro Concept car. The car is only available in Glacier White metallic paint with a high-gloss black roof and tinted rear windows. The front fascia is aggressive and mean, with large air intakes, high-gloss black grille, and intimidating stare thanks to its red-colored curved LED bars in the headlights. The rear is equally as imposing, with tinted taillights, dual-colored roof spoiler, and dual polished 100 mm tailpipes.

The interior of the Audi A1 Quattro is sporty, to-the-point, and top-of-the-line. Black Silk Nappa leather covers the seats and door panels with contrasting red stitching. More supportive seats are used in the Quattro model to help counter the increased lateral forces the limited-edition model is capable of achieving. In terms of sport, Audi has fitted a flat-bottomed leather steering wheel, brushed stainless steel pedals, aluminum shift knob, and special gauges featuring a red tachometer, white needles, Quattro logo, and color display. The serial number of each car is placed at the bottom of the steering wheel.

While the Audi A1 Quattro may be about sport, it still features the latest in entertainment technology. A 14-speaker, 465-watt Bose sound system provides occupants with audio bliss and is controlled though Audi’s infotainment system. The system includes a CD player, digital radio tuner, MMI navigation, and Audi music interface.

The Audi A1 Quattro will be limited to a strict production of just 333 units, beginning in 2012. The hottest A1 model will be available in the second-half of 2012 and come standard with a full range of equipment. Pricing has not been released by Audi.

The third-generation D3 Audi A8 was an executive sedan that brought strong competition to the likes of the stalwart S-Class and 7 Series. Audi’s beautiful interior design, driving dynamics, and modern technology made it rise to the top of the market. Audi also offered a version of the sedan with a 5.2-liter V-10 engine for those seeking better performance.

The D3 Audi A8 has since been replaced by the current-generation D4 Audi A8, but that doesn’t mean the previous-generation is lost in the past. Anderson Germany has unveiled the Venom Edition S8, which transforms the V-8 FSI-powered A8 into a unique car that rivals the S8’s performance.

One of the most appealing qualities of the Audi A8 was its modest and classy design. The Anderson Germany Audi S8 Venom Edition strays away from that mindset with a unique and sinister appearance. The entire body was given a coat of opaque grey satin paint with contrasting gloss black grilles, logos, and door handles. Even the windows and exterior lighting were given a dark black tint to match the overall theme.

Along with the darker attitude, Anderson Germany also gave the Audi S8 Venom Edition a new body kit that includes a new front fascia, side skirts, front fender air intakes, a rear apron, and LED lighting. The exterior highlights were then finished off with a set of gloss black five-spoke, 22-inch wheels with 265 tires, a lowered suspension, and gloss black brake calipers.

Instead of the 5.2-liter V-10 engine based off of the Gallardo’s 5.0-liter engine, the Audi S8 Venom Edition is powered by a tuned 4.2-liter FSI V-8 engine that came standard in the A8 models. Anderson Germany installed an adjustable stainless steel exhaust system with three sound levels to reduce backpressure. The new exhaust saves just under 40 lbs. in weight and boosts power by 16 horses. The engine also received a software tune and sports air filters, pushing output to 442 horsepower compared to the stock 350 horsepower.

Inside of the Anderson Germany Audi S8 Venom Edition is a sporty and comfortable cabin. Almost all of the original trim has been replaced carbon fiber for a sportier look. In order to match the exterior, Anderson Germany fitted grey leather and light grey alcantara. A new sound system with headrest monitors, speakers, amplifier, and subwoofer was installed along with a Playstation 3 for entertainment.

The Anderson Germany Audi S8 Venom Edition is currently available from the German tuner. Pricing for the entire car and individual accessories has not been released.

The Audi A8 D2 was a major step for the German automaker in the executive sedan segment. The car was the first to feature the Audi Space Frame aluminum monocoque that lowered weight and retained structural rigidity. The A8 was also a worthy competitor to the likes of the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz W140.

JMS Tuning has unveiled a styling program for the classic Audi that gives it a more aggressive appearance with a design stuck in the 1990’s. Called the “Racelook Aerodynamic Kit”, the package features bodywork that improves downforce and high speed stability while giving the A8 a unique look.

The front of the JMS Audi A8 D2 features a redesigned apron with a larger spoiler and integrated fog lights. Each side of the A8 can be fitted with new JMS Tuning side skirts for better airflow around the car. The kit also equips the rear with a large, and somewhat odd-looking fascia with dual exhaust cutouts and middle square design.

Accompanying the unique body kit are new wheels and a lowered suspension for better overall driving performance. The original wheels were replaced with modern 8.5 x 20 Audi five double-spoke wheels and 245/30/20 tires. The Audi A8 was then lowered by 50 mm at the front and 40 mm at the rear through the use of a KW variant one coilover kit.

All of the upgrades for the JMS Tuning Audi A8 D2 are currently available. The front bumper is priced at € 239 (+/- 310 USD), the side skirts at € 249 (+/- 323 USD), and the rear fascia at € 239 (+/- 310 USD). The KW coilover kit can be purchased for € 1,119 (+/- 1,400 USD). All components come with TUV certification.

Rieger Tuning has unveiled a new exterior upgrade program for the Audi A5 for those that are looking for a more aggressive look without going over the top. The Rieger Audi A5 program is designed to accommodate the standard and S-Line models and is available in ABS plastic or carbon-look PUR.

The Rieger Audi A5 features a new “R-frame” front bumper that is similar to the design of the stock bumper but boasts more pronounced air intakes, grilles, and extensions. The bumper can be fitted with a new spoiler lip in either ABS plastic or PUR material. Optionally, customers can also order side skirts with cutouts at the rear for a more dynamic appearance for the Audi A5. At the rear, Rieger Tuning can also install a new skirt that fits the stock bumper.

A number of aesthetic accessories are also available for the Rieger Audi A5. For a customized look, customers can order special air intakes, grilles, splitters, window covers, and license plate brackets.
