BMW 1 Series M Coupe and M3 CSL hit the Nürburgring – Video

The M3 CSL puts the new kid through the wringer.

The new BMW 1 Series M Coupe has been called the “spiritual successor to the E30 M3.” What better way to test the German-engineered sports car than on a famous German racetrack alongside a proven BMW model?

Blazing a trail for the 335 horsepower 1 Series M Coupe is an E46 BMW M3 CSL; the lightweight track version of the M3. The track-ready CSL is fitted with cup tires, racing seats, a lightweight exhaust, and a roll cage, while the 1 Series is straight from the factory. The two cars sliced through traffic on the Nürburgring, and the stock 1 Series M Coupe was able to keep up surprisingly well. Just goes to show your how good of a car the new M-model is.

The final lap time was 8:15 due to a delay and traffic, making a sub-eight minute time easily attainable.
