Hamann Motorsport BMW Z4 E89 Roadster Exposed

BMW’s latest Roadster gets mean.

The latest generation Z4, the BMW E89, is the automakers first retractable hardtop in BMW Roadster history. BMW kept the classic roadster design featuring a long hood, low seating position, and sleek profile. Hamann Motorsport however, decided the E89 needed to be a bit more rebellious.

Rolling off the assembly line, the Z4 sDrive35i comes with BMW’s TwinPower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six pumping out an impressive 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft. of torque. Hamann tapped into the engines power potential by retuning the engine control unit and adding a sport exhaust system, thus resulting in an increase of 60 horsepower and removal of the 155 mph speed limit. With 360 horsepower at 5,230 RPM and 398 lb-ft. of torque available at just 1,300 RPM, the Z4 can rocket to a top speed of 177 mph.

For a bolder look and increased aerodynamics, Hamann Motorsport designed high-quality bodywork to redirect air over the Z4’s silhouette. To reduce lift at the front, a new bumper was designed with a more aggressive spoiler. Integrated into the new bumper are two sets of LED daytime running lights, giving the Z4 added road presence. New side skirts improve airflow, and add to the sleek, low design of the car. At the rear, a small spoiler has been added to the trunk to increase downforce at higher speeds. The rear also sports a new bumper to fit the quad exhaust, and features a bolder design.

Two new 20-inch wheels are available and give the Z4 a striking appearance. The forged Edition Race “Matte Black” wheels feature a three-piece construction with titanium screws. The cross-spoke rim is dressed in a matte black that is contrasted by a highly polished rim flange. Measuring 8.5 J x 20 at the front and 10.0 J x 20 at the rear, the Matte Black wheels are shod in 235/30 ZR 20 front and 295/25 ZR 20 rear Continental CSPC 3 tires. Also available are Hamann’s light alloy HM EVO wheels. The one-piece wheels feature a five double-spoke design in a spider polish, with the outer rim painted in black. The HM EVO wheels are available in the same size as the Edition Race “Matte Black” wheels, and wear the same Continental CSPC 3 rubber. The 20-inch wheels are further emphasized by Hamann’s lowering springs that drop the Z4 by 30 mm.

The interior of the Z4 remains largely unchanged by Hamann Motorsport. An aluminum gear knob and silver-stitched Hamann BMW floor mats are fitted for a sportier appearance. Hamann Motorsport also offers hand-made leather fittings for a refreshed interior.

The tuning range for the Z4 sdrive35i can be ordered as a package from www.hamann-motorsport.com. Hamann Motorsport also offers individual accessories from the E89 Z4 tuning range.
