Volvo Polestar makes one Hell of a V-8 Engine

And it’s competing in the 2014 V8 Supercars.

Volvo has made a name for itself in the performance car market as of late thanks to the help of Polestar Racing, the official Volvo factory racing team and their performance division, Polestar Performance. The company has been building and racing Volvos since the early ‘90s, achieving quite a bit of success.

With the introduction of new Polestar variants for the Volvo S60 and V60, the Swedish automaker is entering the performance car market. With it, comes a dedication to racing and development through Polestar Racing, which then translates to better vehicles on the road through advancements in motorsports.

For 2014, Polestar Racing will be competing in the 2014 V8 Supercars series with a Volvo S60 powered by this new 5.0-liter, naturally-aspirated V-8 engine with eight individual throttle bodies, running on E85 fuel. It churns out 650 horsepower, has a 7,500 RPM redline, and sounds downright evil.

Now we just need to convince them to stuff it in a production car…

What Volvo model would you want to stuff this 5.0-liter Polestar V-8 into?
