Aston Martin’s motorsport-bred V8 Vantage N420 Exposed

A V8 Vantage inspired by the Nürburgring 24-hour race.

It all began in 2006 at the annual 24 Hours Nürburgring, when Aston Martin entered a virtually stock, road-legal V8 Vantage nicknamed “Rose” to be driven by a select team of employees and CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez. Out of 200 participants “Rose” finished 4th in class and 24th overall, a stunning accomplishment for a first-time entry.

To commemorate the marque’s success at the Nürburgring endurance race, Aston Martin unveiled the N400, a special edition V8 Vantage in 2007. The newest tribute to the legendary race is the Vantage N420. Available in Coupe or Roadster form, the N420 utilizes the same 420 hp 4.7-liter V-8 from the V8 Vantage, and receives the motorsports treatment from Aston Martin.

The exterior of the N420 benefits from a number of aerodynamic upgrades to increase stability at higher speeds and add a touch of exclusivity. The front of the N420 features a new carbon fiber splitter for added downforce. A more muscular stance is achieved through the use of wider fenders, while new carbon fiber side strakes and rear diffuser provide enhanced stability. To set the Vantage N420 apart from the V8 Vantage line, new black mesh vents and “Graphitic” tailpipe finishers have been added, while new diamond-turned 10-spoke alloy wheels with a gloss black finish complete the distinguished look.

Inside, the N420 is dressed in a classy custom-tailored suit of alcantara, graphite, and carbon fiber. Aston Martin offers the Iridium package, which includes a special N420 sill plates, lightweight carbon fiber seats with “Race Track” stitching, graphite instruments, and a choice of an alcantara or leather steering wheel. Also coming standard in the Vantage N420 are Bluetooth, cruise control, and Park Distance control features.

To properly pay tribute to Aston Martin’s racing success at the Nürburgring, the N420 had to undergo some suspension tuning and dieting. To create a more dynamic ride, Aston Martin’s Sport Pack comes standard, which includes new springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars. To further improve driving dynamics and responsiveness, over 59 pounds has been shed through the use of carbon fiber. Topping off the performance upgrades to the Vantage N420 is a new sports exhaust system to unleash the roar of the V-8.

Optionally, Aston Martin offers a full range of “Race Collection” paint schemes to celebrate the company’s racing legacy. The N420 can be ordered in a “Rose” yellow, “Kermit” green, “Elwood” blue, or the Aston Martin Racing Green. Customers can also opt for the white and black “Asia Cup” paint scheme.

Pricing for the Aston Martin Vantage N420 will begin at £96,995 (+/- 147,000 USD), with deliveries starting in August.
