Eagle Jaguar E-Type Speedster Exposed

Eagle Speedster Jaguar E-Type

The legend is reborn.

From 1961 to 1974 Jaguar made arguably one of the most beautiful and iconic automobiles in history. Even Enzo Ferrari proclaimed that the car was “The most beautiful car ever made”. The E-Type was more than just a gorgeous design; it was one of the greatest performers of its time. Originally offered as either a two-seater coupe or convertible, British restoration specialists, Eagle, has introduced another very limited version – Jaguar E-Type Speedster.

Based on the original Jaguar E-Type, the Eagle Speedster can be considered a thorough restoration of the classic. The idea originally began as a special one-off commission for a client. Upon receiving a vast amount of interest in the restoration, Eagle decided to do a very limited offering of the E-Type Speedster. Each of the cars will use an all-aluminum construction, acknowledging the 12 all-aluminum “Lightweights” Jaguar had produced and successfully used in racing in 1963. Just as the famed “Lightweights,” the ”Lightweight” Speedsters produced by Eagle will use an all-aluminum engine, body, gearbox, and differential, and weigh a scant 1,008 kg (2,217.6 lbs.) dry.

The body of the Speedster was designed to be more athletic and muscular than the original E-Type, but still preserves the same iconic design language that made the car famous. The aluminum body shell is without seams, creating a smooth and clean aesthetic. The windshield is racked back farther than the original E-Type and features hidden A-pillars. At the rear of the Eagle E-Type, the deck has been designed to flow around the driver and extend into the interior where it creates a “waterfall” console. To preserve the classic styling while providing additional performance, Eagle has increased the wheel track and arch width, and fitted wider 6 x 16 front and 7.5 x16 rear alloy spoked wheels with retro “Speedster” three-eared spinners.

The interior of the Eagle Speedster Jaguar E-Type has undergone a modern restoration but keeps classic styling cues. New two-stage heated seats have been installed along with a flowing “waterfall” console that keeps the classic center-mounted gauges and uses the original 3.8 Jaguar dotted aluminum dashboard and console panels.

The new Eagle Speedster Jaguar E-Type will be powered by a 4.7-liter inline-six engine developed by Eagle. The aluminum engine utilizes fuel injection, individual throttle bodies, and an ECU, and produces 310 bhp at 4,800 RPM and 340 lb-ft. of torque at 3,600 RPM. Power is sent through a five-speed aluminum gearbox and aluminum differential to the rear wheels, rocketing the Speedster to 60 mph in under 5 seconds and to a top speed of over 160 mph.

The concept, design and production is the work of long time Eagle manager and development engineer, Paul Brace. On completion of the first car, Eagle created a dedicated website in order to show what Eagle can achieve at www.jaguarspeedster.com. Each of the Eagle Speedster Jaguar E-Type models that Eagle produces will be built to customer specification from the color options down to the smallest trim and fitting details. The Eagle Speedster will see very limited production numbers. Pricing has not been released.
