The next-generation Porsche 991 goes to South Africa for Testing

A sneak peak at Porsche’s new 2012 911.

Porsche has been working on the next-generation 911 for quite some time, and have FINALLY given us a sneak peak at what to expect. The new Porsche 991 was taken out to South Africa for some hot-weather testing in some black camo with a Porsche video crew on hand.

After watching the video and putting together bits and pieces of what we’ve heard on the new 2012 911, we have compiled a number of things to expect with the new 991:

-There will be a Targa model.
-The wheelbase is longer, the roofline is shorter, and it has shorter overhangs.
-It’s longer but lighter than the outgoing 997.2-genteration.
-The interior has been redesigned and will feature a Panamera-style center console.
-It will have a seven-speed manual and PDK option.
-A 350-horsepower 3.4/3.5-liter flat-six will be the base engine.
-The Carrera S will be powered by a 3.8-liter with approx. 400 horsepower.
