The new Aston Martin Vulcan Will Slice and Dice the Track

Aston Martin Vulcan

Another limited-edition track-only special.

As hardcore automotive enthusiasts, we’ve been spoiled lately. Our dream cars that we have posters of on our bedroom walls are getting even better with special track-only versions that are designed only to carve up corners and take the checkered flag. There’s the Ferrari FXX K, McLaren P1 GTR, and now the Aston Martin Vulcan.

The new Aston Martin Vulcan is the most extreme performance car ever produced by the brand. Aston Martin took their most powerful version of their 7.0-liter, naturally-aspirated V-12 and adds on their motorsports know-how and technology in a limited run of 24 track-only supercars.

“Aston Martin Vulcan is, by its very nature, a rare and thrilling supercar. Designed and engineered to deliver a genuinely bespoke driving experience that draws on our rich heritage, this car tailors its power and handling to both the capabilities of the driver and the characteristics of the track,” said CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer.

“A sports car for true sports car lovers, I believe the Aston Martin Vulcan – and the unique ownership program that sits behind it – sets a whole new standard in the ultra-high luxury supercar class.”

The Aston Martin Vulcan was designed completely in-house by the Aston Martin design team led by Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman. The design language featured on the Aston Martin Vulcan hints at the styling for upcoming models while incorporating downforce-inducing motorsport aerodynamics. The new track-only supercar was built and designed to meet all relevant FIA race safety requirements as well.

At the heart of the Aston Martin Vulcan is a carbon fiber monocoque and a body that has been constructed by Mutimatic, the long-term Aston Martin body engineering specialist. Hardcore Brembo racing calipers clench down on carbon ceramic racing discs brakes that measure 380 mm up front and 360 mm at the rear for unrelenting stopping power. These are positioned behind 19-inch wheels wearing slick race-spec Michelin tires. A motorsport-oriented pushrod suspension with anti-dive geometry, Multimatic Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV), adjustable dampers, and a set of anti-roll bars ensures that corners will cry.

“Taking the extensive learning from our various successful racing programs and applying it to this exceptional track car for customers has been an exciting and sometimes challenging task for the team here at Gaydon,” said David King, Aston Martin’s Director of Special Projects and Motorsport.

“Our deep and broad motorsport experience, allied to our renowned road car expertise, has allowed us to make the Aston Martin Vulcan the absolutely compelling proposition it is today.”

Under the hood of the Aston Martin Vulcan sits the most powerful example of the naturally-aspirated 6.0-liter V-12 engine ever produced. Over 800 bhp will be sent to the rear wheels without the aid of fancy electric motors and batteries like its McLaren and Ferrari counterparts. The front-mounted V-12 will send power through a magnesium torque tube to the rear mid-mounted Xtrac six-speed sequential shifting transmission and a limited slip differential.

As part of the ownership process, 24 lucky customers will be treated to the ultimate Aston Martin driving experience. Renowned drivers such as the Le Mans-winning, Darren Turner will be on hand to help guide customers and teach them necessary driving skills to get the full experience out of the Aston Martin Vulcan.

Drivers will start with Aston Martin cars such as the V12 Vantage S, One-77, and then the Vantage GT4 race car on the track before moving on up the ladder to the Aston Martin Vulcan. Darren Tuner’s Base Performance Simulators will also provide drivers with the ability to hone their skills in the virtual realm.

Only 24 examples of the Aston Martin Vulcan will be produced for customers. Buyers will be able to custom tailor virtually every aspect of the car thanks to the ‘Q by Aston Martin’ personalization service. The official specifications and pricing will be made available prior to its track debut later this year.
